Famara and la Caleta
This 6km long windswept beach, with its spectacular backdrop of cliffs (Peñas del chache) is world-famous among both surfers and hang-gliders.
The more casual surfer or swimmer should be careful here as there are dangerous currents and the Red Flag always flies here.
The neighbouring Village of La Caleta (La Caleta de Famara) has a very different atmosphere to the resorts of the South, with it's mixture of Local Fishermen and Bohemian Surfer-types.
