The good news is that we are coming to Lanza in 4 weeks having paid for the flights and appartment, the bad news is that we haven't yet saved a penny spending money and as a couple are going to have to work all hours now to raise 600-700 sterling for the week which is what we got through last time, can anyone answer the following
1) Where will I get the best pint of Guinness and the cheapest, together as in a great cheap pint
2) We will eat out every other night or say 4 nights out of 7, will go to La Bodega twice, where should we go the other 2 nights do you reckon
3) A couple of mornings will have a full english in the old town who does a decent one??
4) We dont do happy hours really but can anyone tell us where the best value nice bars are
with decent people and friendly atmosphere, the main thing for me in a bar is it's clean
serves great guinness, has friendly bar staff and customers and anything else like live
music is a bonus
5) Has the PDC seafront project finished yet???????? or is it still a mess
6) Where is the cheapest supermarket near Balcon Del Mar appartments
7) All your tips, advice and help much appreciated as ever, really looking forward to it
do you reckon 100 Euro a day sounds about right for a couple like a few drinks and something to eat but not night owls!!!! thanks again
not out till the early hours

Spenders is friendly and always good value for drinks but I don’t think they sell draught Guinness, try some of the other bars around the back of C/Atlantico or away from the harbourside in the Old Town, but I doubt if you’ll get it too cheap.
Be very wary of prices in Irish bars !!
For cheapest supermarket, try the one past the Biosfera near the petrol station but try to shop around, some supermarkets are trying it on a little.
€100 should be fine for what you’re suggesting.
Some of my personal tips if on a budget :-
I’d sack the English breakkies, get some simple food in like eggs, cheese, yogurt, cold meats, pate, bread, croissants, fruit (and sausage and bacon if that’s what you want) and eat in with coffee/tea and fruit juice. Breakkie with tea/coffee and a cold drink for 2 will set you back €15 per day, so over the week that’s a whole day’s budget just on breakkie. Do the same for lunch, maybe with some salad and fresh meat / fish and then you can afford to enjoy more evening meals. Also try to have a couple more drinks from your apt rather than the bar.
Some smaller things – avoid English brands, look for Spanish alternatives or just don’t bother. Don’t buy fresh milk, invariably it’ll be off as soon as you open it so a waste of money, get the UHT stuff, not very nice but ok in coffee. Keep some small bottles of cold water in the fridge and take one with you every time you go out, it’ll save impromptu bar stops and actually makes you drink more water which is very beneficial when you’re in a hot climate and drinking every day.
Work on PDC front should all be done now.
Have a great time.
Ole

Have a good holiday, Ole seems to have covered most of your questions apart from no:4. There are plenty of bars with live music covering a number of styles, but please bear in mind if you are budgeting, bars offering live entertainment are usually more expensive. There are good venues both down the strip and in and around the old town.
Please post your findings on here when you return, for those of us who are going later in the year.

The San Antonio hotel has a decent selection of different entertainment every night.
Free entrance and drinks at reasonable prices.

Don´t think San Antonio hotel is on this though...... :)

Going to the Orkneys next thursday, got 4 flights for £30. Kirkwall-Westray-Papa Westray-North Ronaldsay-Kirkwall. Not bad and no discount! 8)

I only hated making the drinks.......coffee the spanish way is so time consuming. Water comes from a tap in the UK not a bottle from a fridge as in Lanza.
We had a joint account for the comp and hence the error. :) Only twice.

See ya soon Overhere, Get the cider pump ready........
