Hi all,
I know there have been loads of similar queries / posts on this, but I am getting myself into a blind panic about finding somewhere to stay in Playa Blanca late September / early October.
I am looking for a villa with private pool, but both my partner and I don't drive (just 2 of us going), so i really need to be close to shops / restaurants etc. Can anyone suggest an area in the main part of the resort that would suit. Or if there are any areas further afield that have good amenities close by, that could also be a goer, tho places like Faro Park seem so far away.
I am also struggling to find decent maps online.... any help here would be a bonus.
Have not had a holiday in the sun for a few years so this is precious to me and I am scared to be disappointed!!! (am also a very typical libra and can't make a decision to save myself....)
Any help / advice is much appreciated and welcome.

Costa Papagayo or Parque Del Rey are both fairly near town and have villas with private pools.

You don't drive? well you have a long taxi ride to the resort and will cost about €35.

Hope this helps:- It's about 30 -40 minutes from the Airport to PB and 35 - 40 Euros. I've been looking for a villa for next year with a private pool and near the town and Costa Papgayo and Parque Del Rey seem to be the best to fit that criteria. In fact I've just booked one in Costa Papagayo. Try http://www.holiday-rentals.com or http://www.luxuryvillaslanzarote.com or any of the other villa sites. Good luck.

Hang on Parque del rey is hardly walkable with shopping - ok 15 mins from town centre - what about Las Margaritas - aren't they villas with pools? Las Brisas is nice and though not with private pools superb location.

Fair enough! But if you are happy to compromise private pool for more central location...... though parque del rey hardly like if you're in the sticks say if you were over in Faro park or something.

Hate to see what a really long trip would be for you overhere!!! ok maybe not the correct terminology but then Robert says 30-40 mins which here in Lanzarote is a long drive. It may not be for people in the UK for people commuting but here you want to get from A-B in a as short as time as possible. Matgorda for instance is 5 mins and has lots of nice villas and is €7 in a taxi max.

Well peoples perception of time is very different!! Eg. transfers when you go skiing - a long transfer is considered to be over 2 hours from the airport!
If you are getting a taxi from the airport will be nearer the 20 min mark as they don't hang about in their mercs and strangely never seem to be bothered by the police for doing 140kph!!!
Main draw back can be the queue - especially if you arrive on a Thursday and can be over 10 flights from the UK arriving in an hour!
