hi
what price will it cost for one adult, 2 teens and 2 small children plus one infant (TOTAL 6 PERSONS) to get picked up at the airport and dropped off in tahiche?
is it cheaper just to get 2 taxis or to go with one of the larger transfer organisations...if so whom do you recommend?
i know i could hire a car but tbh im really scared of driving after reading the roundabouts have some weird rule which if you dont know you may end up in an accident so i dont want to have to get in a car straight from the airoport and not know what im doing .
any advice gratefully recieved
jo

Driving is easy, just take your time at roundabouts.

ive never drove on the opposite side of the road before so dont know if i could cope with all the kids in the back stressed off an airoplane and having to tackle foreign traffic.
i did drive in cyprus but it was pretty similar to devon and on the english side of the road lol
everyone says its easy but i have cold sweats thinking about it...it may be a phobia

You are probably looking at 2 taxi´s.
Maybe try canal travel?

Why not try www.lanzarotetaxi.com. You can get the price on the website.

I never used them but its worth a look. Make sure they have a 7 seater for you instead of two taxis.

Driving in Lanza is a dream - far prefer it to the UK - plus normally you get a nice new car to play with rather than the banger I have back home!

Roundabouts are fine just have to be sensible like how you would be when you are normally driving - and the convenience and cost saving of having a car is great.

Am sure the kids will be in awe of the funky landscape so will be no bother!

I would hire a car, if you're staying in Tahiche, you may want to get out and about and explore the resorts and island. Driving isn't that difficult and there are much fewer cars on the road than the UK. With roundabouts, just stay in the outside lane where you have priority - don't swap lanes as you go round like in the UK.

From the airport its only a short drive, you take the first exit on the right after the cargo centre - wait for a gap to join the main road as cars won't give way, once you passed the Deiland shopping centre on the right, move over to the left hand lane so you don't drive into Arrecife and take the Circunvalacion, this is the ring road around the capital. You want the second junction off this road - at each junction there are two exits, the Tahiche one is the fourth exit or the second exit of the second juntion, its signposted Tahiche, Orzola and the North and it will take you round and underneath the road you were just on - Tahiche is then straight ahead, the first roundabout is the César Manrique one so you need directions from there. If you miss the turning you will end up at the ferry port, just turn around and come back to the junction again.

The locals are used to tourists driving and will give you space, just remember to stay in the outside lane at roundabouts, we don't give way at junctions, if there is a stop sign, stop and put your handbrake one and don't cross over blocked white lines in the centre of the road.

Have a great holiday 8)

Ah yes good point Jules, I should have read the question more closely –
Pinky, have you been to Tahiche before ? It’s very small, quiet and isolated and unless you’re happy to stay around the villa (which is fine BTW) then it’s likely you’re going to need some transport to get around the place so maybe a car would be a good idea.

Jules - you make it sound like people in the UK give way at junction with a smile!!!

LOL! It must be my memory, I probably barged my way out of junctions in the UK rather than waited to be flashed!

Joking aside though, I'd rather our visitors be cautious on exiting the airport and joining the main dual carriageway, it isn't the norm to give way here and it can cause confusion if you want to let a car out at a side junction.

sorry Jules had to laugh when you said locals are used to tourists driving and acknowledge this, i class myself as a local and the things i see such as tailgating etc. being in Tahiche i would recommend a car, but there are ways to drive to places and stay away from the main roads until you feel a little more comfortable, but you will need to use the main road when you get here or you could contact Trish at www.talanza.com who has properties for rent at reasonable prices and she is a friend of mine
