Good evening

We are visiting Lanzarote in April 3-17th hols- we were here last August and the weather was scorching! I am told that the weather can be cooler in April - especially of an evening and have been advised to take jackets. This sounds a daft question, but what sort of weather are we talking at night? A light jacket, ie sweatshirt style jacket or a great big fleece? I know the winds can be either warm or cool, but surely not that cold? Also I love evening swimming, we have got a heated pool where we are staying, but is it likely to be out of the question?
Any info would be greatly appreciated. We are staying in montana roja area of playa blanca - I understand it can be quite a bit warmer than PDC? Cheers peeps. x

Late March & April are the winter months and it is not unusual to have sleet, perhaps bring a puffa jacket. However, if your pool is heated, it will still be the temperature it is programmed to be, regardless of the weather. Have a great time.

Sleet :( Nobody warned me about that! I guess it might be a mad dash from the pool into the warmth then. Is it pretty warm through the day though - the temperatures are showing 70 degrees at the moment? I have been told it will be red hot, someone else has told me it will be quite rainy (? thought it hardly rained in canaries?) I am getting somewhat confuzzled and I want to go holiday shopping this weekend - long johns or thongs???

Light jackets are fine. Today has been sunny and 23 degrees in Playa Blanca, but overcast and about 18 degrees in the north. It will go down to about 16 degrees in the early hours. April should be much warmer - look at the table in the "Weather" tab in the orange column at the left of this page - but of course it might possibly rain, or there might be a storm, it is an island in the middle of an ocean, after all!

I've just checked all my photos for April 2006, 2007, 2008,2009 and 2010. There are lots of photos of blue skies and people lying on the beaches, and playing in the water, but not one of rain.

Thank you :) I will have a lovely shopping trip with a couple of lightweight jackets thrown into the basket to keep me warm of an evening. Beer jacket doesn't seem to work as well as it did when I was 18! I seem to remember going to Lanzarote in March a good few years ago and it was extremely cold and windy on a night - but we were in PDC. I know the weather cannot always be predicted month to month - but thanks for advice. I will leave my wellies at home. :)

Hee hee hee, After my cheek, I hope I've not tempted fate for March tho. Great Photo too Robert, Love Timf covered in snow. Take it you were skiing. One of the best pistes in the Canaries. Even in summer it's nice to ascend using the chairlifts.

Although RobertK was joking, there was snow recently on Mount Teide in Tenerife, which is quite usual because it is Spain's highest mountain, and is cold even in Summer. Look herefro a recent blog someone has made http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_L_x-B0Uuirk/T ... %2B033.jpg

Hi numbumnumone, we normally go aug/sept but went last april, wasnt sure how good the weather would be either. Dunno if we were just lucky but it was scorching the week we were there, felt nearly as warm as we have ever felt it during the summer months, hardly a cloud and no rain. shorts and t-shirt were still on into the wee hours while out in the bars. ( although the wives felt a bit chillier than the blokes ! lol )
Have a good one !! Another 5 months to wait until we get back over :( :(

Thanks djjakuk - I have heard weather is quite unpredictable sometimes in April, so you obviously landed very lucky 8)
We were out in August last year and had a day or two of the hairdryer wind days - I like it hot but that was just ridiculous. Stayed indoors drinking beer and playing cards :D
I have shopped now and bought beach stuff for day and thicker t.shirts, cardis etc for night time. If it is cool on a night I am sure we will find a few nice warm establishments. And after that, the midnight swimming should be no problem!
As for you, Mr 'sometimes there might be sleet - bring a puffa jacket'. Yes, you are a devil - I physically hyperventilated for a minute or two when I read your post - so good one - you got me there. Forgiven!

It's been about 25 C today, I'm still comfortable at 22:50 in shorts and T shirt, and it's February.
