Hi! My g/f and I are coming to PDC for the first time April 18th and we'd like to know if we can hire bicycles there. Is it safe to tour the island by bicycle? If not, are there any car hire in PDC? We're on budget, of course, but not too much :)
By the way, we're Italian (30-35y/o), living in London, and we wouldn't mind meeting locals or other visitors to exchange travel experience. Thank you to anyone who help us!

There are loads of car hire places out here in PDC and very fairly priced.

There are a few bicycle hire places to but I think I would feel safer in a car cos of maniac drivers.

You should well know that from the way the Italians drive MrEnrico lol

Mr Enrico,

See here for hire of bikes and various other modes of transport in PDC :

http://www.megafun-lanzarote.com/lanzar ... ental.html

Cycling is very popular on the island, but I'd say in general it's the road racing type of cycling rather than ponderous leisurely cycling.

As Overhere says car hire is cheap just don't do it through a tour operator.

Ole

thank you oleoleole and overhere! I think I've hire a car when I'm in PDC, it probably works out as cheap as the bike, but much safer.
Or... do you think touring on public transport (buses) is a good idea? I've seen the timetable, they are regular buses to a few destinations of interests - are the buses reliable?

MrEnrico,

I think hiring a car is a more feesable way to get around the island and they are quite cheap to hire.

Enjoy!!

why not do a search online for it.
Try cicar, anthon,hertz,plus car.
If you do a google I am sure you will find something and then that should satisfy your queries.

thanks overhere for your help, i actually did search but the car rental agencies known to me like hertz and europcar were quite expensive, others (probably local brands) like record was somewhat reasonable (something like 130 euros for 6 days), but are they reliable?

and most importantly.. if it will cost around 40 euros from the airport to PB and 80 to go back (as i understood the taxi driver charges double for return) this already makes 120.. why do some people prefer not to rent a car? any hidden reason?

Hi

I did a quick google and it came up with cicar and cabreramedina etc.
I don't have your dates to be able to get a price but I am sure if you do it, you will be pleasnatly surprised.
I think people when they go on holiday tend to be put off a little about driving in a strange place. However you will be very pleased to know the roads are excellent. Driving from the airport to PB couldn't be easier it is a straight journey and no need to turn off really, so it is that simple.
As for taxis I have never heard they are double the price on the return if anything I have found them to be slightly cheaper. I can only talk about the PDC area.
I feel that f you hire a car you can then explore the island easier and have a great time. Just one point though it is virtually zero tolerance on drink driving and always have your license with you in case the local 'plod' stop you or the guardia.

Incidenatlly I googled car hire in Lanzarote.

Just been to airport and asked at the desk of CICAR and she quoted €150 for a week in June and that was for an Astra.

Mind the prices could change like the weather.

http://www.anthon.com is 130 euros for an Opal Corsa for a week (bit less for 6 days), but http://www.autoreisen.es/ingles/CarHire_.php is an incredible 86 euros for a Citroen C2 for 6 days
