Flew from Arrecife yesterday afternoon -some French Air Traffic Controllers on strike, so a few flights delayed. Didn't seem to be as organised as other airports, especially when boarding - queues just seemed to be everywhere. My own impression was that the airport didn't seem big enough, but my personal experience was OK so it would be wrong of me to slate the place. In my opinion there were plenty of shops, eateries etc - some places how next to nothing whilst you are waiting to board. However - for what its worth - the ladies in our group were stood waiting 15 minutes for the loo - dont know whether that was to do with not enough facilities or too many people !! First time to Lanzarote - verdict - excellent !!

Maybe more the fault of the airline rather than the airport as the airline too miserable to have extra desks open. False economy and short term thinking as people will be so p*ssed off at Q's for check in they will change airline. No more than 5 people at any Monarch desk at any given time all day Thursday 19th March as 5 - 6 check-in desks open all day. Monarch have also reduced thier excess baggage charge and extra leg room charge in euros due to exchange rate. Fair play and praise where praise is due.

The airport can get very congested especially on Thursdays. I have been in the thick of about half a dozen flights all landing at once , then there were the German flights also arriving.
Still the airport is much better than the old one as some have mentioned. They used to lock you in these small rooms ready for departure. Well they weren't that small, but when you have a couple of hundred folk in there, when it's sweltering hot, it was a bit diabolical, and was compact to say the least.

As a Lanzarote new boy I found th ewhole experience great. We flew with Monarch and when we arrived the bags were on the corousel before we got there and coming back was just a fifteen minute queue with everybody chatty and compairing tans. There weren't many shops open but we had a beer and a sandwich and then we were off. Just as an aside. If you are coming back make sure you drop into Fat Larry's American Diner in Costa Teguise, we open on Saturday 15th Aug. See ya.
