:P Arrived Sat 4th at 6pm only to find a big Q from earlier flights at their car hire kiosk, this visit my wife got the bags and had to Q with me to get the car, normally I have the car info/ keys and meet her waiting for our bags, a 40 minute wait later we were on our way but Cicar and Cab Medina ( kiosks next door) were empty had a few people from our flight and they got away quickly. Anyway my 210 euros = £180 for two weeks of a Citroen C3 with 5 doors and A/C so worth the wait

I'm not sure they see themselves as victims! but they could do with more staff on at peak times. When we used to come on holiday, we always flew Iberia, so there was less demand fpr cars. I always sat as far forward as I could (you could chose seats 24 hours ahead), then I'd go as fast as poss to the Autoreisen desk, leaving my wife far behind. Almost always I'd got the car keys and joined her at the carousel before the bags arrived.

All the car rental offices are double sided, with one desk in the baggage reclaim. The baggage reclaim has the carousels on the long wall and if you stand with your back to the carousels, all the car offices are to your far left. As I said, the best idea is for one of you to race ahead straight from the aircraft, with passports and driving licences for all intended drivers and a credit card, to get to the desk asap, leaving the others to wander along to the carousel. Of course, if you are coming from UK, you'll all need passports to get through immigration, so if there is more than one driver, you can only go alone from there.

Autoreisen are good, i've used them a couple of times but on this last visit PlusCar were 25 euro cheaper for my 5 day booking and they delivered a car to the Airport for me and I dropped it back in the Airport Car Park for them so it's worth checking the prices on a comparison site.

One thing to consider when looking around, neither of these charge you for the petrol as some of the cheaper quote ones do, a bargain price quickly becomes expensive when you have a 60 euro charge on top for petrol, especially when we went all over the Island and only put in 25 euro the whole trip!

PlusCar in the terminal? Oh that's good. I hadn't noticed before, last time I hired from them (3 years ago) they didn't let me leave car at airport. Have to say their service was good tho'. I usually use Cabrera and have heard Autoreisen get good write-ups (although I had a bad experience with a German guy in one of their shops a few years back so haven't given them the time of day since).

I just got a quote online from Autoreisen for my next visit and must say it is a great price. However, I'm always wary of losing money on the online rental if my holiday is cancelled last minute and did once get laughable quotes from a few rentals in baggage reclaim. Those prices were opportunistic to put it mildly. We always travel to PDC in at least a group of four and get a E10 taxi then hire in resort.

Must add, when I hire off Cabrera, they have just started charging for petrol (claiming renters often left the cars dry and this was now their policy to combat it) but I always leave the amount they have given me and reclaim my money when handing key in at airport. Although I've worked out their price of unleaded is not as cheap as the gas station outside the airport, so they get a little less back from me. hmmm :?

With auto reisen and some of the others you aren't financially liable for anything by making a booking on their website - its just a reservation.

We used pluscar in April they were fine - they didn't have an office at the airport - just a bloke with a sign and did the paper work at the funny outdoor office which they all use.

With Autoreisen you bring it back with the same amount of fuel as you got it with. Last time they didn't even check. In fact they didn't even look at the car, I just handed the key in at the desk in the airport because the one in the car par was closed.

PlusCar met us at the Airport, woman was in Arrivals with our name on a sign and we also did paperwork there and were taken to the car. We left it in the outside carpark for them as instructed when we went back to the Airport.

I booked on the website and just ticked the Airport box for collection, no petrol money taken, it was on empty when we got it and we returned it just over empty. A lot better than paying €60 per tank that Holiday Auto wanted.

I live here now, and drive an ex Plus Car rental. It is excellent, was obviously well maintained during the rental period, and handed over in an immaculate condition. Oven 4 years, I used Autoreisen over 20 times, and had excellent no quibble service. So, thumbs up to both.

I used to use Anthon, but they put their prices up about a year ago, and so I switched to Autoreisen.

With Autoreisen I had to return a Fiesta with a wheel bearing that was louder than the radio. They swapped that for a BMW 116, so I was quite happy about that.

Another time I had a Seat and the electric window got tighter and tighter until it failed in the down position. They swapped it for a Citroen C3, which was ok, but not as ok as the BMW.

Last time I had a Skoda with a knocking CV joint that I would not tolerate on my own car. I lived with it for 3 weeks because I didn't want to complain any more.

Mixed feelings. Think I need to buy my own car really.

Just got back from our trip and thought that I would let you know about our car hire experience. We booked online with Gold Car, it was one of the cheapest and it also gave you a free A/C upgrade and all for just £174 for two weeks, not too shabby. :D

However, when you get to their booth (and they would not let us fill the forms out from the Baggage reclaim side of customs, so we had to queue for about 25 minutes) only then do you find out that they also insist on a 60 Euro charge for the fuel (not sure you can fit 60 Euros in a 206), and they also wanted an extra £38 for tyre, exhaust and underside insurance, which we declined.

When I got to the car it was a mess, very dirty, dented smelly and the types were in very bad condition, all of the tread on all of the tyres was shredded. It was literally crumbling off of the wheel, I took a picture on my mobile and went back to the hire booth to show them. There was no argument, they changed it straight away but I can imagine that if I had taken this car that when I returned home I would have been charged for 4 new tyres.

Anyway, the new car was just as dirty, just as smelly but it was ok for the money I guess.
