We think its an irish bar, or it may just be a british bar but it's on the corner just as you go town towards the harbour in the old town on lanzarote

If anyone knows the name PLEASE let me know, something awful happened to me and my friends in that bar and we are involving the police as soon as we have a name- we were too frightened to go back to find out the name and have actually come home 7 days early because it was that bad

I advise nobody to go to lanzarote, its a dump and its violent

We saw a man get his head kicked in by the bouncers of cesars in the new town too, so don't go there

I am really surprised to hear this as we have been to Lanzarote for 5 years running and never seen any trouble.

Well I been going to Lanzarote for 10 years and the only trouble i have seen was the good old English people having to much to drink and kicking off.[:(!]

I know lost of people that work on the door's around the clubs in Lanza and they would not start something for nothing

<i>"I advise nobody to go to lanzarote, its a dump and its violent"</i>

Some statement [:0] - and even if you had a bad experience it's untrue! Lanza is trouble-free IMHO :)

Sorry but can't help with the name. I am surprised you did not take more notice .. I suggest you find a street map! :)

I lived and repped in Lanzarote for a year in 2003 and I wouldn't say it was it was exactly trouble free! :oops:come on no where is trouble free! But out of all the Canary Islands I've been too I would definately reccommend Lanzarote, its got the lowest crime rate out of all but it ain't trouble free and I dont think the bouncers or management at Cesars would let anyone have their head kicked in outside their property. Lanzarote is a Fantastic and definately the best place for a girly holiday (Puerto Del Carmen)& Playa Blanca Hotel: Sun Tropical for a real family holiday! ;)

I can honestly say that the bouncers of cesars would not have 'kicked anyones head in'. I know 4 of them and the most I've seen them do in the 5 years i've been going is to escort a couple of drunks out! They may look 'big and hard' but at heart most of them are softies (i do know them).
I agree with the last post on here that it is far from trouble free but it's usually us english getting into the trouble.
And as someone else said - how could anyone not know which bar they are going into? Crikey even at my worst drunken state i always knew which bar i was in!
Good luck in finding who and where in your search.

Hi,

I'm very sorry to hear you had a bad experience.

However, I think it's a bit of a sweeping judgement to say the whole island is a dump.

Places like Famara, Papagayo, La Santa, Yaiza, Arieta, La Graciosa, etc are anything but. The majority of the island is unspoilt and beautiful. I've stayed in Puerto del Carmen twice, plus Costa Teguie, and found them to be very nice (having said that, we didn't go out clubbing, just to eat out and occasionally sample a bar, so can't reasonably comment on that).

I'm British myself, but I'd hasten a guess that the trouble you had was not from locals.

I don't think 'what goes around comes around' is quite the statement to make though (no offence!), as it sounds like something like date-rape or something similar took place, and this is NEVER warranted - if the woman is drunk this is completely irrelevant - without consent is without consent and the sooner this is realised the better.

Having said all this, I don't think you'll have much luck with the police now you're back home.

Laura

I think people may have been a little hasty to judge here. This girl and her friends have clearly been through somthing traumatic. No-one deserves that and to be perfectly honest if you're having a good time (or been drugged!), than you don't always take everything in.

I'm going to Lanz next week and if I see this bar i will post the name here for you. The prat who ruined your holiday and tarnished your view of Lanz deserves to be punished.

I hope everythings ok.

The whole island is a dump and full of dog crap and grafitti and cockroaches. The civil guard are gun toting maniacs and their justice system stinks. Guilty before charged and they hate the British tourists, but dont mind our money being spent on their barren wasteland though. It resembles a quarry at best and I strongly recommend anyone visiting that dump not to. Go around Arrecife and theirs quite a few missing kids posters up. The locals deliberately try to run you over, and it absolutely stinks. It was created 20 million years ago from beneath the sea. I hope another act of god takes it back under again via an earthquake. Been once and thats enough for me.

So fancy meeting up for a pint in Puerto Del Carmen?
I'm over in June and you sound like a fun person to spend a few hours with!

You completely and utterly disrespect an Island you OBVIOUSY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT!
The police are excellent, you can flag them down in the street and ask for information. Gun toting, yes, its Spain and the Spanish police are armed. I´ve never seen one take his gun from its holster.
Some parts of Arrecife do have a "slight" grafitti problem, which city doesn´t?
The local car drivers are extremely courteous, its the Tourists (reading maps whilst driving), working out which side of road to use that can cause one or two upsets.
The missing kids posters you mention are kids from Gran Canaria, if you´d have taken time to look at them this would have been obvious.
Formed 20 million years ago, there abouts. I´ll give you that one.
Earthquakes can only shake the foundations of the Island, you would need the Volcano´s to destroy it. Unfortunately due to the type of eruptions seen on Lanzarote, this is highly unlikely to occur.

Ah well, I´m sure you must be confusing Lanzarote with another Island, at least it sounds like we won´t have the pleasure of your company again.
