Bad news for those that loved their brekkie, have just seen on another site that they are selling off the contents of the pub this weekend, and I mean everything, so unless it is being gutted and done up again then i guess the 50 cents an item brekkie is a gonner

Thats a shame I always liked going there. Deal or no deal was good entertainment at night.

Are they also closing the Toby Jug?

I think the Toby Jug has changed hands and so should remain open

Happy Holidays

So sad to see The Barge has closed. Can anyone recommend a decent place to get breakfast within a short walking distance of La Penita.

Hi we have had a few brekkies in The Barge Inn whilst staying at La Penita but we very definitely prefer breakfast at The Mucky Duck, and you cannot get much closer either! We are back at La Penita in Sep so will be back to The Mucky Duck and Cafe Del Carmen of a morning. Can't wait!

I seem to remember it working out cheaper than The Barge Inn for more...I want to say approx 8E for 2 full english (with lovely fried bread!) and a mug of tea and a fresh orange. We have been to both 2009 & 2010 and The Mucky Duck always seems to stick out as nicer and cheaper for about the same quantity. I hope it is still as good in September!

Thanks for the info. Did not realise they did such a breakfast, thought The Barge was the bees knees. Hindsight always the best.

Any other places close by you would recommend for breakfast. ie 5 minutes walking time.

Try the New Londoner in the same square right next door to Friends. They open early for breakfast with a vast choice and pretty reasonable. They do a "mammoth" brekki for €5.50 or regular for €3.50
