My parents came back from Tenerife today so pleased with themselves as they had bought me and my partner a digital camera which we had wanted for ages so that we could take it on our hols to Canada it was a dvxjvc (piece of fake ****)! I feel so pissed off for them as they bought 2 in the end as bought one for sister too they paid with there card and are now worried about fraudsters having there details! Anyone managed to get there money back or have any info on how they dealt with the fraud side of things so that we are ready if it does happen? Many thanks Kellie xx

i have just read with interest your problems with the digi camera. Dont panic, just keep hold of your receipts. the indian commnumity is in the process of setting up an association called club india lanzarote (CIL). if you see a cil sign in the shop window you know they are safe to use. When i have the telephone number for this association i will let you know. They will fight the battle for you with or with the help of the guardia, that will be up to the rogue who sold you the camera, depending on how helpful he is. Will keep you posted.

my advice is never buy anything expensive from lanza, especially with your credit card, there is so much fraud going on over there, not just with the foreigners but english locals too!!!
i seriously doubt if you can get your money back from the scumbags that sold your family the fake goods :(but as harsh as this might sound, let it be a lesson to you, your freinds and family in the future!

kt xx:)

I think you will find CIL is only for Lanzarote while Kellies parents bought the fake in Tenerife.
JVC know about these cameras but don't do anything about it.
You would think an international company like JVC would involve the trading standards to close down these shops but they don't.

Hi,

I am so sorry to hear about your disaster with the digicam.

However; It's not that bad simply because, as you stated the purchase was made via credit card/debit card.

You can make a claim through your card company and get full compensation.

The crime is fraud for which you are well covered.

In future regardless of what companies or logos above the shop say; it is advisable to shop only at VISANTA.

The guarantee you receive is valid all over the world on your return from your holidays.
Take care.

Sandy b
