Having looked at Jambo's original posts in March, he was asking for places with cheap beer and food in PDC. It's interesting that since he started this thread, he's not posted again.

Should be interesting if "Frank and Pearl" and "Lapenita" are both staying at the same apartments at the same time. Would like to be listening in if they continued their rant in person.
Perhaps they could invite each other to their favourite eateries. A sort of "Holiday come dine with me".

We are out 7 November this year staying at La Penita.

Surely the point of going on holiday is trying new things.

Maybe for you, not for everyone, I go on holiday to relax and have a good time. I do love trying new things but I also like some familiar food too. The OP asked a question and frank answered it, that's what these forums are for, they're not here so pompous oafs can have a dig at other people. Sorry if that sounds harsh but people like you annoy me.

"pompous oaf" here again - as RobertK so politely put - so nice to see that we can all be adult on this forum and not resort to name-calling. Whilst not wanting to repeat myself again, I am entitled to voice my opinion - as is everyone else.

At the end of the day I thought that the point of a forum like this was to promote Lanzarote and it's resorts and not, as seems to be happening, as an excuse to throw rattles out of prams. I will, of course, continue to praise Lanzarote and PDC to anyone I can. I can only hope that some of the views raised on this forum do not have a negative impact on the Island or it's economy - no matter where we choose to eat or drink.

So, I'm sorry Jambo, it seems that this forum hasn't helped you. I can't, because I live in Playa Blanca and don't know enough about PDC - I do know that Puero Bahia is very good, but I wouln't call it cheap. However, I'm sure a short stroll on the first evening will reveal all!

 Some people get very touchy and snappy, don't they. See what you started Jambo!!!!!

The best thing to do,FrankandPearl, is leave your apartments and go for a walk early doors. Go to the footpath on the beach side of the road and peruse all of the food establishments that are on offer.

There are some good establishments and some greasy spoons.
In my opinion some of those mentioned by you are of the latter category.

Bagatelle does a great value breakfast,as does Supermercados dos Mil but this is a bit farther away from La Penita.

Personally I can't go by the breakfast menu on offer at La Penita as they have a great range at reasonable prices and you don't have to leave the complex.

If you do travel further than Friends you will find a myriad of great eating houses on offer. The Old Town excels in them.

Happy Hunting. :D :D

I'm with La Penita!!!!

Though having said that I think its a bit naughty of some on here not to warn that some of brit bars and virtually all of the irish ones make French ski resorts seem like wetherspoons..........!!

We always stay in the Old Town and eat there too, would recommend Bodecos (polish/irish) food is amazing, the carvery in the harbour, where i always overload my plate! and the sunset grill we discovered for the first time this year (next to scotch corner) very good menu with different 'specials' every day and extremely friendly and helpful staff. when we ordered our main course we were given a choice of canarian potatoes, baked potatoes, mash or homemade chips (and they are!) and either salad or fresh veg. Feel in all these restaurants the owners/staff make a real effort.

I was not going to reply why we choose the places mentioned but here goes. Pearl and myself sre in our 60's and on a budget as we go on holiday at least three times per year. Pearl has walking dificulties which curtail the distance we can walk. This is why I named the places where we enjoed eating. We will use them again when we come out in November and if they ar no good will not use them again but will not slag them off. Remember allwe did was just list the names of the places we enjoyed and will continue to do so in the future. At least we answered the original question in a civil manner.

It's a shame that this seems to have turned into a squabble.
But, should just agree to disagree

But for my money, here's places to eat.
OLD TOWN
Emma's Cantina,
Bodecos,
English Rose tea rooms,
Zaffran

NEW TOWN
La Dolce Vita,
Pinnichios
Jewel of India
Friends
The way west
Anticca de trattoria
The Great wall
Toby jug
Tebrna del Nino is on our to do list for next visit !

Yum yums gets a mention as it does great baguettes if you fancy a lighter meal in the day

Drinks
Spenders, Friends, Bluebell, Chadwicks (old town) plenty ofplaces with offers during the day....Not cheap by any means but if you fancy treating yourselves to a great cocktail Golden Corner !.....

Happy holidays everyone !
Danny
