the question is a bit like, how long is a peice of string! Everyone looks for something different so without knowing what sort of things you like to eat/drink its hard to knwo where to start! In Carmen you can find just about everything somewhere along the strip or in the old town.....

Then why not suggest some, like he has, instead of slagging him off. He is only answering the question

Surely the point of going on holiday is trying new things. After all, Lanzarote is well-known for fabulous canarian food and drink - tapas, incredible fresh seafood, canarian potatoes with mojo sauce: too many to list here. I can list my favourite restaurants if you want but surely visitors should form their own opinion - all I'm saying is give the resort a chance.
Of course, it would be remiss of me not to mention italian, chinese, thai, indian and mexican restaurants in PDC - why limit yourself to british cuisine - live a little and try a lot,
BTW I've tried the Mucky Duck etc and have to say the name above the door says it all - if I wanted to ding my food I would stay at home!!!

Was not going to reply to lapenita as this is typical of some people on this forum but as he/she has made another rant here goes. When we go on holiday we pick where we go, when we go, where we stay at and what we do including what we eat when we get there. We tried the places mentioned enjoyed them. Tried a few other places, wont go back to them but wont slag them off. Will try the places mentioned and if they have changed will not go back.

did not "rant" as Frank & Pearl believe - merely stated my opinion, which, by the way, I have formed during the last eleven years of regular visits to PDC - I thought that this was an open forum!! obviously not. As previously stated, everyone has an opinion and is entitled them but surely we should be trying to encourage visitors to PDC to try everything - not just what they can get at home.
As this was my first post on this forum I take offence at labelled as "typical of some people on this forum" but I shouldn't be surprised at this juvenile response.
Was gonna try the "other" forum but lo & behold they're on that one singing the praises of the same places - LOL.

I was stating an opinion and if the other forum is singing the praises of the places does that not tell you something. Your name should indicate why we chose these places. At least I gave an answer to the original question. No one else has yet. Just to let you know we tried these places becuase we saw their names on tthis forum because other members in the past have said try them. As I said before it is my choice what I do and if I like something I will say so.

Correct me if I'm wrong - are you not, as individuals, singing the praises of Friends/Barge Inn/Mucky Duck/The Londoner on the other forum and not, as your previous response indicates, "the other forum" - this is misleading as it gives the impression that the entire forum is promoting a particular establishment. As you say, it's your choice to air your opinion as it is also mine.
Try Puerto Viejo, Emma's Cantina, Antica Trattoria and La Lonja - an education.

The last sentence of recommendations was all that was required in the first place,If F&P is happy with the places he visits then he has simply answered the query. I have also been visiting Lanzarote for the last 11 years and always like to try something different when I am there, and I dont think I have had a bad meal anywhere. Each man to himself,if he likes these places and think they are worth a visit, then dont knock him for it,as these places may well suit his budget and taste in food.

Restaurants up in the old town harbour worth a visit; Puerto Bahia Mar Casa Benito Sunset Grill
On the main avienda (Strip) La Ponderosa Cafe Roma (they do good breakfasts as well) Maritoni Chiquito's La Braseria La Dolci Vita The Jewel of India.
Hope this helps Mick

I try everywhere, always go back to Blairs. We will try Quintins and some Mexican place in the old town on our next visit. I've heard they are a bit pricier but really nice. I have learned through experience to avoid anywhere with the name 'Lani's' attached to it. Very samey (I am sure the menu is the same in each one and they just rejig it) and I don't appreciate having a a mini roll being put down to me without me asking for it, only to find they have added E1 for it on my bill. Scammers.
Never had an awful meal anywhere in Lanz, so just try what you like the look of. P.S. I love Barty's Irish bar for breakfast in Matagorda.
