Hello, we are due in PB on the 1st Nov,our 2nd visit, and we wondered if there was anywhere we could hire push bikes from, and are you able to ride them on the promanade?.
We would also appreciate any recommendations on restaurants around the Marina Rubicaon Area.
Thank you

Yep, bikes are available to hire, even electric ones that are great for going uphill.
Elle is your best bet for info on restaurants, she spends most of her time in them!;)

Stop volunteering me lol.
Seriously though Drew and Nite - no problem with the bike hire. Head to the port (not Marina), and with it on your left, look diagonally right, and up a level. Right on the corner there is electro-bikes. They've got allsorts in there. the fellas name is Roy. I think it's €12 per day for pushbikes, and €15 for electrobikes. he'll deliver too I believe.

Cymmon - I only wish I DID spend all my time in restaurants. Unfortuntely Alan likes my cooking too much - I really must do something about that eh.
Sorry Drew and Nita - I don't know that much about the restaurants down that way. The Lani's Snack Bar down there is cheap and cheerful though. Good for a spot of lunch, and usually busy. It's a franchise rather than part of the large chain here on the Island. I've also heard great things about the Casa Roja (although I'm yet to try it myself). Cafe del Mar is nice too. Drinkies outside whilst pretending one of those massive luxury yachts is yours lol.
Alternatively, head to the seafront towards town - and there are some excellent food houses down there. If you like steak or seafood, you're in for a treat. Try Tipico Canario, L'Artista, and Brisa Marina. they're about a 20-30 minute stroll along the promenade from the Marina.

To answer the other part of your question, signs have recently gone up at either end of the promenade saying no cycling. No one seems to take a blind bit of notice, and as there's access all along the promenade and only signs at either end I don't see how it's exactly enforceable.
I tend to cycle along there early mornings (nine ish) and it's fairly quiet, just cyclists, dog walkers and joggers, it's really nice. I'd probably give it a miss much later than ten though as it gets a bit busy.

We were in PB at the end of August and hired bikes from Papagayo Bike that were delivered to our accomodation. We rode on the coastal pathway from the lighthouse to the Rubicon Marina, with various stops for drinking, eating and swimming. There are No Cycling signs at either end of the town, but that gives you a chance to walk and look at the shops.

how many miles is it exactly from the lighthouse to the marina?I walked it most days when we were there in oct last year with a stop at some lovely little area just past Rubicon hotel ?(name please elle) and then again at my fav irish bar in the harbour and then my hubby would meet me with the car and drive me back to the villa as i would be slightly tired from the couple of drinks.

Hola Ruby love.
Do you mean the little area just past Rubicon Palace? Or Rubicon Marina? the bit by Rubicon Palace is where our favourite tapas bar is... Pinxtos, as well as an Argentinian Grill, A fairly new Italian (damn, i forget the name of that... it begins with C I think). There's also the Natura Beach, and White Bar, facing the seafront, and the Dive College yes?
Your fave Irish bar by the harbour must be the Irish Anvil then? That's where we ended up on New Year's Eve last time.
I don't know how many miles it is - but it's a long old walk. I did from the old harbour to Rubicon Palace... then back into town and up to CC Papagayo recently. My muscles knew about it the next day lol.
When are you back again Ruby?
