Hi everyone - Liz's mum here
I'm interested in birds. We'll be visiting La Graciosa and Timanfaya. Can you help me with the following
a) hiring binoculars - are they available at any of the above places? - or anywhere else?
b) are hoopoes and egyptian vultures at the above places at this time of year? - if so, the best places to look for them?
c) any other birds of interest? and the best places to see them? - although it's good to see so many sparrows here - not a common sight now in the UK.
Thanks

Not sure about hiring binoculars, but in answer to your other questions:
Hoopoes can be seen in any of the villages and gardens on the island - if you want to see a lot of them, then the Tias golf course is a safe bet. Both Egyptian Vultures and Hoopoes are residents, the badlands around Orzola are a good place to see the vultures.
The Salinas de Janubio is a must-visit spot as well - Black-winged stilts and other waders and the occasional flamingo.
