Im going to a villa in matagorda, and read a review of a recent break in at one of them. is this a very common thing in matagorda? my wife is now very worried about it after looking forward to our trip all year. any help appreciated...

I live in Matagorda and can tell you it is a very rare happening, so much that I haven't heard about the one you are talking about and the last one I had heard of was a couple of years ago.
Try and re-assure your wife there is no need to panic and enjoy your holidays.
break ins are few as john said, your wife should not be worried. just do the general things you would do anywhere lock doors and windows and use the safe but for no other reason than common sense
Oh how awful - you mustnt let this worry you, i have lived here for 12 years all over the island and yes the odd thing does happen but so rarely and I wouldnt imagine Matagorda is different to anywhere esle. I can count on one hand the amount of break ins I have heard of in all those years. lanzarote is a safe place, dont allow others to spoil your holiday!!

Thanks guys for the reassurance. I know crime is everywhere, but with 3 weeks to go it wasnt the best review to read. Really looking forward to it. Youve cheered me up anyhows. thanks again
