I have noticed that most of the blockwork is done by the Africans. And I have heard 2 or 3 English builders say that they wouldn't get out of bed for what the Africans are paid.

There does seem to be a demand for builders doing general types of building maintainence and improvements. I say this based on I have found it hard work to get jobs done. Or even looked at. But you do need to learn the Spanish system of building regs/controls, and the language to make it work.

I don't recall talking to a builder with no money to spend...

I was talking to a lad last week who has been here 5 years and working for some builders but hasn't worked for 3 1/2 months of late as they have no work.

Draw your own conclusions I'm afraid.

So I might be able to get someone to re-do my shower floor and repair my veranda roof?
Here's hoping!

Sorry.

Yes I did call in one afternoon to say 'Hi'. I think it was Thursday, and I spoke to your young lady. She said you'd be back at 7, but I couldn't get back then. I came in just after Cy had left, who I also wanted to meet as we are/were in the same business.

The week was pretty busy and I struggled to get everything done. In fact I didn't get everything done. I am still arranging repairs to my veranda roof, or pagoda as it seems to be called over there. I spoke to a guy in the village who has been highly recommended by someone I know. I am waiting to hear back. Once I hear from him I will decide if I use him (probably, because he is in the village) or not.

I still have a leaky shower floor, but just ran out of time to deal with it. This is still pending and I do need someone to look at it before I come back in August. If you know anyone then please let me know.

Sorry if you feel I was a timewaster, but time is what I ran out of.

I will try to apologise, in person, on my next visit.
