How do all, flying out first thing in the morning and totally unorganised at the mo so have not sorted currency yet. I have been to PDC before and know there are plenty of places where I can get euros for my pounds, but never used them before.
Can anyone confirm please if these places are okay to go to, or if I should just get my cash at the airport before flying out (the exchange rate at the airport is usually poor).
Any advice appreciated, cheers.

The best advice is not to carry large sums of money, either sterling or Euros. Imagine losing all your cash for the holiday on the first day. Just take smaller amounts out of a cash dispenser when you get here. It really doen't make much difference to the amount you get whether you use a cash dispenser here or a shop, or bring Euros from UK. If, for the sake of arguement you spend a total of £500, the difference between methods is about £10. It's not worth risking your entire spending budget for that is it?

Thanks for teh response, and dont think im being a tool here, but I have been away many times before and prefer to take it all in cash with me rather than getting charged for withdrawals every day.
Like I say i dont mean to sound ungrateful, Im basically just asking if the places where you can exchange currency in PDC are trustworthy and recommended or not.

too late for you now mate, but I found a website - curencyfair.com. I've no connection to it, but is seems to give better value than the banks.

The dubliner is next opposite he way west/los italianos If you head in the down the strip in the direction of Matagorda, it's about 5 mins past the casino, you can't miss it.
The other asian shop I use is next to the Rocas Blancas.
Be warned the rate they advertise is usually a € less when you get inside and it's not unknown for them to try and short change you !!, but if you check your cash when you change it they are still the best rates of exchange cash for cash
Happy Holidays Danny

Danny, I think you mean a cent less, not a euro less! It's pretty standard in all those places. If you take cash ,they say the advertised rate is only for travellers cheques and vice versa. I'd love to know what happens if you take both!

I agree in principal but banks charge between 2.75-2.99% transaction fees for use of cards abroad in shops plus an additional 2% for use at a cash machine plus very unfavourable exchange rates. So on 500 pounds, you would stand to lose more like 30 pounds not 10 using a card rather than euros and that´s assuming you don´t make the mistake of changing less than 100 pounds at a time. I´ve known holidaymakers to just withdraw 10 pounds at a time out of the ATM and not realise how much it costs them!

I usually take a bit of sterling and always laugh when changing at the asian shop next to dubliner, I so am going to do both cheque and sterling some time haha. BTW, I have been using a Santander Zero card for last 2 years which was very favourable, but last time I took Halifax Clarity card and found it even better. It gave very good daily rates, about the same as Mr asian shop. There are no withdrawal fees, and although the card charges interest, I made sure the balance was cleared as soon as I returned home and the interest for £800 spend was 56p. Highly recommend.
