Hi we are coming out in dec, and have only been to tenerife. But what we liked there more than anything was the Mercadona supermarket, that sold big prawns and live seafood at really good prices. Have tried to find the same about Lanzarote on google, but no joy. Are there places to buy fresh fish, preferably prawns or maybe somewhere on the marina sells them??

THe really big prawns are imported not local so not sure whether you will get them fresh.

There is an excellent fish counter at Ropers in Playa Honda. Can get all sorts and they will be more than happy to gut and skin a whole squid or fillet the fish for you.

I'm not sure where you are staying, but Ropers have even better branches in Tias and Playa Blancas now.

Am guessing CT?

Walker - I thought the Playa Honda one was the biggest? Def bigger than the Playa Blanca one. Not been to the Tias one.

Amazing how it has changed in the last 5-10 years - was virtually impossible to buy fresh fish.

La Lonja in Puerto del Carmen is excellent, but suppose that will not be comfort for someone in Costa Teguise.
There used to be a decent fish market in Arrecife, was supposed to open again this year.
Some Spars or Hiperdino also have a fresh seafood section. I know the shopping centre just down from Arrecife bus station has this as do some shops in PdC. I suppose (hope) this will also happen in bigger branches in Costa Teguise.

At the very worst most of the supermarkets do "freshly frozen" seafood....... :?:
