Hi everyone, could anybody give me some advice on hiring a car. Is it best to book before we go from a company or to hire from the airport who will give the best price also is it easy enough to drive out of the airport to Playa Blanca as we have always been on a coach previously. Finally what size car could anyone reccommend for 2 adults , one very tall teenager and a 9 yr old! Thanks Elaine

Car hire is roughly £100 per week, depending. A taxi to and from the airport to PB will cost a large chunk of that, and PB is pretty spread out, so you'll be getting taxis or buses around there, and you'll want to see the island. That would make it much cheaper to hire a car. There is another thread on here this month with someone asking for, and getting, directions to PB from the airport, but basically as the main road LZ2 runs past the airport and ends in PB it is easy. I recommend www.autoreisen.es. (good English web site) They are usually the cheapest, and are hassle free - no nasty surprises. Office in the baggage hall of the airport. I'd go for group F - Skoda Fabia Station wagon, or G, Seat Altea XL

I'd go for the cheapest option that has aircon, it's what I always do.. sometimes it's a squeeze to get the cases in but that's only to and from the airport. I'd also recommend autoreisen.

Do it now. You don't actually pay until you're there, so you're just reserving it. You'll need a credit card to pay with, and driving licences for all those going to drive- no extra charge. Also ,they don't make you buy a tank of fuel, they tell you how full the tank is (roughly) when you start, and tell you to bring it back with the same amount in.

I use www.autospluscar.com , so looks like I´m the odd one out. Used them for many years and never had a problem.

As I said above, I always used autoreisen, but now I live here, I bought an ex Plucar rental from their retail outlet Autos Dibar. It is superb, and obviously well maintained.

That's interesting I thought none of the ex hire cars were sold on the island, for fear of undermining the second hand car market - at least that was what I had been told.

Hi
I am flying out on Monday and renting a car for the week from autoreisen. I just wondered do you need just the photocard part of your driving licence or the paper part as well?
Cheers
