I usually hire with Autoreisen online. 3 weeks ago I got a brand new Citreon C3 with 20km on the clock, all the trimmings for €96 for the week. Went all over the Island with 4 people in & only used €20 of fuel.

Would thoroughly recommend Autoreisen - only drawback was the queue at the airport, they were the only kiosk with any customers ...!!! Was sorted within 15 mins, just as the cases came through. From landing to Apts in 30 mins, not bad going for a Thursday evening.

Not quite sure if the previous poster but one is having a laugh.

You can haggle all you like but you won't get a discount from the larger operations such as auto reisen, holiday autos, felycar, cabrera medina etc.

Maybe the smaller outfits - but then they don't have the buying power of the bigger ones.

The best way i would suggest - and I've never had any prob is reserving online - try a few because there are pretty big price differences and unless you are a bit of a snob or need the room don't bother with getting anything better than a budget one.

Re. the quality - I've had a right mish mash from all the providers over the years.

Having a laugh? I have better things to waste my time on. I did not suggest trying to haggle with the big operators - or online (which is patently impossible anyway). That is why I suggested PlusCars and a phone call :?

I have used Autoreisen many times before I moved here - and their cars usually have a dent or three, are often filthy inside, and the queues at the airport are usually lengthy. They ARE cheap, at least by comparison with likes of Cab Med.

By contrast Pluscars cars are usually almost new, spotless in and out, and they meet you at arrivals and take you across to carpark to do brief paperwork and give you car. On return you just leave the car in the car park!

And as I said, if you ask for a better price they WILL often offer one - AND be cheaper than Autoreisen.

How do I know? I have tried most of them during holidays before I moved here, and (based on "haggled" price and car quality and service) have my wife's Yaris on very reasonable long-term hire from Pluscars.

I get superb discounts from www.autospluscar.com , Plus car.
They have superb insurance and give me extra Insurance at no extra cost.
The cars are very new and in excellent condition with a 24hr helpline.

I first got a discount from Pluscars (but could not from Autoreisen) last year before I moved here. I just mentioned the best price I had got so far and asked if they could beat it :D . That simple.
