We are going to puerto del carmen in september, does anyone know if i can use my bank of scotland visa electron card in cash machines there. Are there plenty of cash machines and do they all have the electron sign.

Yes it will but I'd find out before you go how much your bank will charge you for using it. If you do use it say no when it asks if you want to be charged in GBP or else you'll pay the Spanish bank's exchange rate, which is always worse than the VISA rate.

Agree 100% with Robert K. Always click you want to 'pay for the withdrawal in Euro's' (usually the 'NO' button on the ATM). If you are intending on taking cash out of a machine abroad, you should consider getting a Santander Zero credit card or a Nationawide's Flexaccount Visa Debit card. read martin Lawrences page on money saving expert for accurate advice.

I agree about the Nationwide debit card, I use one myself but any credit card, including Santander Zero will charge you for withdrawing cash, this is usually about 2%.
