Hi there,
I will be going to Lanzarote for my sisters birthday and was thinking about the Casino in PDC for her Bday night. . Does anyone know if it's a classy place or is it somewhere we should stay away from?

So it's not dodgy then - is there only one Casino?

It's small. It's very expensive and the croupiers are very dismissive of anyone who is obviously not an experienced casino goer.
I would give it a miss...

O h thanks for that - if someone knows anything about it that would be great!
Or even anywhere classy that would be ideal for a birthday with just three women, one of whom is my mom?

McDonalds opens late in Puerto del Carmen.

What sort of place would you classify as "classy"?
There are many excellent restaurants on the Island + other places to visit. I would agree the Casino is small but is still nice. Don´t pay the prices for the food in the Casino, the food in the Terazza Bar above the casino is actually cooked in the Casino but sold much more cheaply...........BUT........Prepare for a wait for the food to be served.

Mar Casa Bonito in the Old town Harbour is a superb restaurant, as is Anticca trattoria de Verona (next to the Barcarola club in PdC).

Clara you could always try Puerto Calero, there are nice restaurants there and the marina is lovely.

Also La Ola which is next to the casino is quite nice although the food anbd service can be hit and miss.

Alternatively go into Arrecife to the Gran Hotel for a meal and have a few drinks in the bars opposite, it could be a pleasant change and then get a taxi back.

Comments like cys need to be ignored

Pueryo Calero is a really good tip. As Overhere says... there's some nice restaurants there. Amura was always voted as a hot fave... but I've not eaten there... so can't speak from personal experience.

Maybe take a wander down during the day, and check it out for yourselves.

Alternatively... go and talk to the big hotel there... just a short walk back from the marina... and do the whole "spa/massage/sauna/facial/luxury" experience. Once you are all feeling suitably pampered and gorgeous... head back to your accommodation... get dolled up and feeling beautiful... and then head to the Old Town in PdC for some fine food. Bellenies has a cracking reputation. Or Emma's Cantina Mexicana has fabulous food (and I'm sure Mike and Emma will look after you, and make it special if you tell them what you need). Or El Tomate by the Biosfera gets rave reviews too.

Or.... get a cab out of PdC, and head up to Macher. When you get to the roundabout there. turn right, and then there's a lovely restaurant on the left. I think it's called "La Tegala". A taxi driver should know where the new Gazette offices are - and it's next door to them anyway.

Whatever you decide... go into a couple of places the day before, and chat to them about what you want - 95% of the restaurant owners will bend over backwards to make it special for you.

Elle xx

OOh another Macher idea would be la Cabana, just lovely, very small but simply the best food. Again if you tell them its a special night you will get spoiled.
but as others have said grand hotel great idea, la amura in p calero is good, as are many others there.
all depends on what sort of a night you want really.
Id take Elles advice and have a scout round beforehand.

Anyone ever eaten at Amura (that's the white place past McSorleys isn't it ?) ??

I've only ever been to PC during the day but it never seems open.
