€3 to €3.30 along the front in PB is about the going rate, because they don't need to compete on price

OK, reading your post, €2.50 in the Wax Bar for the cheap beer, but $3.50 for Peroni, €4.50 for Guinness, The Wax Bar is not on the front, it's halfway up the CC Papagayo away from the sea. If you go to the cafe outside Hiperdino, it's only €2 for a large beer. So, if you don't mind sitting with no view of the sea in a small bar, you can get it cheap. If you want to sit in a back street outside a supermarket it's even cheaper. I mean the restaurants along the prom on the town beach, so go and have a look there and tell me if I'm wrong.

I think that's one of the reasons I wouldn't stay in PB. I just find it more expensive in general and for no other reason than being pretentious. It's nice for a day out tho'.

I don't think it's pretentious, just rather nice, so it's popular, which is why they can afford to charge more - just like any attractive place the World over. However, since this forum is mainly populated by fans of PdC, each to his own!
