Saying that a heavy person will generally travel with a light person is a major assumption, pdcar, and one not supported by the couples I see.

The 3 e's bottle of water scenario and not letting passengers carry their own soft drinks through checkout began a couple of years ago because terrorists could use liquid explosives. Completely fair enough. The traders, though, should not be able to turn this to their advantage and get (probably) a 1000% markup on water etc. When I asked (in the UK) how security knew that the water 'on the other side'
hadn't been tampered with, I was told that it had beern 'scanned'. If this is the case, why can't they scan the 40 c bottle of water I've bought at Hiperdino?

I guess men in general heavier than women if that was the point you were making but generally if one person in a family is a fattie then they all will be fat.

Weight is one thing for hold luggage but Ryanair/easyjet generally go on size for hand luggage and the issue is fitting everything into ONE bag - so girls your hand bag must fit into your one bag as must any duty free etc.

Anyway I was 6kg over weigh with my bag and the girl said it was fine but becareful coming back as they are very strict in Lanzarote with weight.

I can't imagine what you all take with you! I've never needed to use my full 15Kg! It's sunny - what do you need other than shorts, flip flops, swimwear and a beach towel?

If you abide by the small print, you'll be fine. If you try to get away with somthing you've not paid for, sometimes you'll be lucky, but you really can't grumble if they apply the aforementioned small print - you signed up to it.

Interesting about excess luggage ! The wife & I now only travel with hand luggage. You are allowed 10kg each and you need to be very selective in what you take. Halfway through the holiday do one laundry wash and off you go for another week. This way you don't pay for your suitcase,you go straight through airside at the airport and when you land you don't have to wait by the carousel hoping that your bag is coming through. How is it your bag is always after everyone elses ?

And there seems to be an upsurge of them losing luggage as happened to us last September !

Try getting any compensation off them too. Easier to herd cats !

Stop complaining:

1. You agreed to the carrier's terms.
2. The charge is more to do with the charges levied on the airline by the ground handling agents (than fuel). Heavier luggage needs to be marked and mechanically handled (Health & Safety).
3. Get some scales - but I wasn't impressed with a cheap set I bought and binned them. Take care!
