Is their good weather in Lanz for xmas?
Is anywere open?
Is their a good atmosphere?
Does it feel christmasy?
i know their is loads of questions but as I said its first xmas holiday and I really want my wife to enjoy it.

cheers

We spent last Christmas in PDC, with two kids, weather was nice, albeit torrential rain the day we arrived!! Being December, its shorter day for sunshine. Christmas day was pretty much like any other day really, everything open, would advise booking dinner and plenty of places do the 'Christmas Turkey/Ham' thing with all the trimmings. It was a novelty to be on the beach xmas morning, and felt strange being in pub in summer clothes singing xmas songs!!! New Year seems to be more of a celebration in Lanzarote, where almost all the shops shut down for the day or earlier than normal. I would not hesitate going back again for xmas but daughter (12) missed the atmosphere of home & her friends.

Hi Darby
In your twenties,, no kids,,,,,, get those bags packed sharpish !! LOL...
I've been over for the last two years for Christmas & New year,,,and will be doing the same again this year. I would definately recomend it. OK, the first time I must admit, it does feel a little strange; December & packing shorts, T shirts and the likes. but believe me, it beats the weather over here hands down.
Last year for the full fortnight the beach was packed everyday, yes it is that warm !! Once you get in the swing, you don't even think about it being December....
The place is packed, and everything is open, so no probs on that score. As quiva quite rightly says, if you fancy a "propper" Christmas dinner, booking is always advisable.
Christmas week is more or less the same as any other week in Lanza really, but New Year is something else !! Then it is PARTY TIME...
The Strip is cordoned off to traffic from about 5pm, everyone goes out a little earlier for a meal, and the bars start filling up anything from 8pm onwards.... Big firework displays at midnight and then again at 2am..... and then the party really gets going...
Roll on the 21st December !!
Mick

Hi Darby

Just as the others have said it's a fantastic place to be at that time of year. I've not been for xmas but usually travel out between that and new years eve then stop in PDC, there's nothing better than sleeping off the new years day hangover by the pool in the sun!!

The days admittidly are a bit shorter and the weather cannot be guaranteed although for the whole week this new year just gone we had wall to wall sunshine.

Nights can be a bit cooler and i'd recommend a jumper/small coat especially when the tides changing and the breeze picks up.

I'd definately recommend going out to anyone, if it wasn't for family stuff I would be there for xmas, but instead bring on Dec 29th!!

Peter

Hi Darby, me n shammy are coming out on the 30th Dec till the 11th January, we cant come out for christmas because i dont want to miss my grandsons first xmas, but came out the same time last year it was fantastic on the front and beach for New Year, i always find New Years Eve at home a letdown and yes the weather was great last year at that time but do agree that you need a cardy or jacket for the evenings.

what you need to realise is xmas in lanza is 6th january so spanish do not celebrate 25th december but that does not stop british bars celebrating, we do xmas eve party xmas day 5 course meal kids party xmas eve daytime santa onsite, santas grotto from 1 december to 6th january, live entertainment every night, fun party time from xmas eve thru to 6th jan. weather is good has been last few years but as said cold on night and shorter days, but heh take the plunge and do it you will not regret it.

Yes must agree, 6th January last year was great with three kings procession along the front on camels and everyone diving for the sweets they were throwing out of the enormous baskets. Well worth staying those extra few days.
