Good point! And the expert is more likely to know than the rank amateur who told me the story! However - I ain't taking any chances!

Only saw them once at Coronas Playa, we were on the ground floor and they could get under the door quite easily.

Mike, i was told the same tale I was also told dont stand on them, flip them over on there back and they die In 2000 we stayed at the playa flamingo apartments in PB, they were full of them at the time, but the worst place i've seen them is the apartments at playa bastian, the wife insisted that we were back in our apartment before darkness fell they were bad though on the paths. Hi Andy, fancy seeing you here I trust you are well Like Mike we've also been told not to stomp on the blighters to avoid transfering eggs. Zum is definately the way forward if there's an issue indoors but in the Lanzarote climate and especially around the resorts, they're a fact of life I'm afraid. Any work being done on the drains, water or other underground supplies also tends to drive them out into the open. Low spreading plants are also a favorite habitat. Take care, Steve. (LADS)

'Cheap' flights are becoming more scarce, check out a few 'indirect' options, they sometimes have better flying days too. You still have my email addy, drop me a line anytime, if you've lost it, post here. Cheers.

Flying via Madrid is an option but the Easyjet flight is early morning so a night in the airport is required.

Also flights via GC and Fuerta, look at flying via the German airports too.

What are the options going via Germany?! My dutch and german mates are envious of the cheap fares (compared to them) that we get! Apparently £300 is the norm though.
Surely the exchange rate doesn't help?
I can see the attraction of a night or two in Madrid - but can't see the point of going round the houses to save what exactly? Plus how much do you value your time?!!!

I can only suggest you take a look, and pay in Euro's. Your german friends should be getting a far better deal than we ever would. If it's of no interest that's fine.

What airlines are we talking? Airberlin? Not up to speed on my german airlines?
Surely its a 2 hour flight to germany then about 5 to Lanza before you include transfer time?
Anyone done it?

I’ve looked a few times to mix and match holidays, so for example a city break followed by a few days in lanza. There’s actually loads of scope for it nowadays with the schedules the low cost operators fly. Last year I was looking at Manchester -Athens-Lanza-Manchester and there were reasonable options – just got let down on the date in Athens unfortunately ! So still not done it but may do soon. For Germany look here http://www.airberlin.com , you may be pleasantly surprised – we flew to Berlin with them and they were brilliant and have an interesting and wide European destination list, including ACE. Oh I know all about Air Berlin and German wings - used to do a lot of stuff for BAA at Stansted when all the new european budget airlines were starting to come over.
Totally agree about mix and match holidays - can be great fun. Don't quite see how it can work if you are only going to lanza sounds like a lot of extra time hastle and expense! But would be interested to hear from people who've done it!
Obviously everyone bored of cockroaches! Have seen a couple of monster size ones in my time out there though! Certainly had me screaming!

I once had a night at Manchester Airport, flew to Madrid via London Gatwick. 2 nights in Madrid, the AVE high speed train to Seville, a fantastic 4 night stay there before a flight to Lanza. 3 weeks in Lanza then back via Madrid. Superb.
