Have been told that I should buy a dongle for my laptop for use in Lanzarote once I reach CT as it will be cheaper than using a UK bought one. Having read about the apparent rip-offs by some of the camera shopkeepers would appreciate any info on where to buy a dongle and whether it would be suitable for a UK registered laptop. Also I understand that you can buy an attachment for a laptop which allows you access TV programmes. Does anyone have any info on this please? We're staying a month so will need internet access and my wife will miss some of her UK programmes (sorry about the questions but I'm not very computer literate - my wife says I'm still trying to come to terms with electricity!).

Thanks for this. Could you advise me where the big green hotel is please? Apart from the bus station I can't really recall any landmarks in Arrecife. Appreciate any help.

It's the Gran Hotel. The tallest building on the Island. You can't miss it.
Lovely bar and restaurant on the top floor.
Visanta is on the roundabout 100m away.
Try Bar Aborigen, next to the bank for cheap food and drink.

Depending on how long you are planning to stay and how much you are planning to be on the internet for it may actually be cheaper to pay the ridiculous price on the UK dongle.

Probably the best option, however, if you are just coming on holiday and don't want to be on-line all the time is to find somewhere close by that has wi-fi (many of the cafes and bars offer free wifi for customers).

If you are coming for any length of time and want to regular internet access then you can buy a pre-paid dongle from vodafone for €35 which comes with 2 weeks unlimited use and there are various options for topping up after that, if you are planning on being here permanently then both vodafone and telefonica offer contract dongles.

Or even try La Esquina, an excellent English bar. Buy a few drinks, some food and chill with Steve and Alana.
I'll be there again in February.
