Hello all,

We are hoping to book our third hol to CT (when the tour ops finally get the bloomin brochures out grrrrr).
Just want to know if anyone has any idea when the Puerto Tahiche reopens and also is Tiggy still running the Bulldog Bar?
Also, whats the price of the food and beer over there at the moment?
We were there last Oct and it was very reasonable; most bars doing offers which were mega cheap...I think I drank Monickas Sangria supply dry....and the food was also well priced, most we paid was 45 euros for meal and drinks for a family of 4!!!

Thanks all

Col xx

Reports in the UK newspapers today that the £ sterling rate is getting better against the €.
Less spending money or more beer? Hard choice Meat!!!
£1 = €1.15

Thanks to all who replied,

I am glad to hear Tigger is still there, but not good news about the Tahiche at all!
I actually got some quotes last night, and rang a couple of travel agents yesterday;

1 week staying in the Teguisol, Self Catering, 2 adults, 2 kids, 22nd October flying from Manchester with pos the crappest flight back ever....£2089
Again the same week etc but staying at the Lanz Paradise £1636.
Cheapest price I got from them was £1174 for a week in Lanz Paradise on 29th October.

I got a quote from there website though and found one for £940!!

I am wondering how in the middle of a recession a family can afford £2000 for a weeks holiday in October. :?

Anyway I am going to keep on looking and keep my deposit in the bank because I am sure they will come down in price....last year we only paid £1300 for 2 weeks!

Cymmon according to GMTV the rate is now at 1.25 against the pound.....it is creeping back up thank god!

1.25 to the pound?! Dream on girl! Think you were looking at the wrong currency!

The closing price in London last night was 1.15 which means you'll be getting 1.10ish for holiday money and yes may very well hit 1.25 come July time as economy improves but not quite yet.

Hi

If you've got the time (and the patience), try trawling through teletext either on tv or online. Or google cheap holidays lanzarote and see who pops up. You may end up with square eyes, but there are usually a lot better deals to be had than the traditional travel agent.

Good luck!

Try www.skyscanner.net for flights and www.alpharooms.com for accomodation.
Normally decent deals.
