Well, thats us back after another week in PDC (our 4th in 18 months) and we had another amazing time. I truly don't think I could ever not have a brilliant time whilst there but its true to say that the Credit Crunch is affecting everyone.

All the pubs and restaurants seemed a lot more empty and it was disappointing to see some of our fave bars toiling. Even our faves, Big Apple and Paradise were dead. I just about fell off my seat when I was told that Big Apple now shut every Wed to save money as BA was always one of the busiest pubs.

I really hope business picks up for them and that the holiday companys bring their prices down otherwise noone will be able to afford to come. We're hoping to come back in October and we're looking at £280 for flights - madness!

Know what you mean. Can't believe flights and packages haven't been decreased drastically to try and get bums on seats. May not get a holiday at all at this rate :!: :!:

Damn flights!!! Rip off!!
At least when you get to Lanzarote you can have a cheap holiday.
As you said Anne if only they dropped the prices of the flights to get the people out there.
Feel sorry for the business's out there.
I was out in Dublin a few weeks ago and went to a well known pub in the city, the Temple Bar pub. Price for a pint bottle of Bulmers/Magners:€6.80, pint of Bud. €6.30. Now that is a rip off!!
So let nobody give out about rip off prices in Lanzarote.
You get great value for money in Lanza :D :D

Yep, know what you mean - our local charges about a fiver for a glass of vin very ordinaire, and I'm buying much nicer bottles of wines at 3 for £10.00

Hey Everyone!

I just got back on Thursday (was with Chez!!), we had a cracking time as usual. It was pretty quiet out there and a few of the restaurants/bars were quietish, but that didn't stop us having a ball!!

Puerto Del Carmen is one of these places that you can have any kind of holiday you want, any time of the year! We had a riot for a week! The most fun we've ever had on holiday! Okay, things may have seemed a bit more expensive, but that's only cos the euro is pants!! Lanza is not an expensive place at all! I was in Dublin 3 weeks ago and it was so over priced! A voddy & fruit juice cost 7 euro! That's a joke! Gimme Lanzarote any day of the week!!!

We went into Jaspers while we were away, we've been to Lanza 4 times and never been in! Anyway, we sat outside with an ice cold Magners and some gorgeous food! Lovely place, nice staff - will definitely be back!

Needless to say, myself and my good chum will no doubt be back. We're looking at October, but the flights are quite expensive just now. Hopefully they'll come down in price once the tour operators realise nobody is booking holidays! I can't wait to go back. Puerto Del Carmen is my favourite place in the whole world!!

Anyway, I'm ranting, I should be working!! (it's my first day back and I'm struggling!).

Kirsty xxx

p.s. My apologies to anyone who was in the Karaoke Bar in Centro on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night last week - our rendition of "Lets Get Ready to Rumble" was a complete train wreck!!

Hi Meat,
Drink any where that is not in the Temple Bar area and it will be cheaper!!!
Just go across the river, great pubs over that side. You'll find the locals over there and thats where all the fun is :D :D
Knightsbridge (Arlington Hotel), Slaterys (Capel Street), The Celt..... All great spots.

Enjoy

I recently cancelled a holiday to Ireland, just too expensive and so went to the lakes instead. I think many people may do similar this year and with the £ doing so poorly against foreign currency, thus making the UK cheaper I can see that it'll be a good year for UK Tourism.

Agreed - Britain is maybe the place to be this year. :|

Especially since we have had such a rotten winter, maybe we'll get a fabby summer to compensate. 8)

But I shall still miss the smells, sounds and ambiance of "abroad". :(

I think you could be right about UK holidays but probably only those who didn't do it last summer who found they probably missed the sunshine.

I recall when I was back in the UK in Dec looking through the free ad papers how many people were actually selling up their new camping gear they had bought for the summer holidays. So if you are thinking of camping look in the freebies for bargains.

Somewhere over the weekend a Blackpool spokesperson said trade had gone up 50% in the summer but didn't elaborate as to if it was day trippers or people staying for a few nights etc.

Hi Sue,

We were gonna introduce ourselves, but felt a bit daft! We'll be over again this year and will definitely be back at your place. We'll pop in for a wee blether and drinky poo!!
