In the week before departure day we check and check our bags to ensure we do not take to much stuff. Of course you might guess who always says we need to keep this or that.
The day before departure I finish work, take the dog to friends who look after him and then check the flight bag to ensure our money, tickets, passports and insurance are all there. Do this about 4 times to make sure. I know it sounds a bit paranoid but how many times have you seen people at the airport searching through their luggage for tickets etc.
Once everything has been checked again we go to our local Indian restaurant for a slap up meal. Come home have a couple of drinks then off to bed.
Get up the next morning have breakfast, check the flight bag bags once again just to make sure everything is there, fret until the taxi comes. The holiday does not start until we see the case disappear down the tunnel at check in.
Normally fly with Thomas Cook out of Birmingham. However, flying with Thomson this time so we are going to the airport the previous evening to check in and then come back and go for our meal. Big advantage is that we don't have to be at the airport so bleeding early, only one hour before our flight.
Live in Coventry so will get the train there and back.
When we get to Lanzarote, check in, cases up to the room, valuables in the safe and head to Friends. Land at 12.15 should be in Friends at 13.15.

Sad I know but?

It's not paranoid. However, I'd check the flight tickets and passports as we get in the car to go to the airport. If you leave them in the bag overnight before leaving, they might evaporate!

One other thing we check is the time the flight take of for the weeks prior to our takeoff day. Can't do it this year as Thomsons winter schedule does not start until next week.

Sad I know but!

No use checking Philippines Airlines flight times 'cos they can strike or cancel anytime. Butuan to Manila was cancelled for 3 days, meant a 5 hour coach trip on mountain roads, then a 30 min taxi , finally a flight into Manila from Cagayan.
No protection as in Europe but a firm stance normally will get results.
I got 200php (£2.96) for meals and 1000php for taxi (£14.81). Taxi to the Bus terminal 275php was (£4.07) then coach instead of another taxi 337php (£4.99), therefore saving £5.75! Still look after the cash!

I start reading this forum a lot more :)

Usually about 2 months before going. Always check the weather reports too and hope it will last for my visit!
