If you live or are staying in Plan Parcial Montaña Roja (Faro Park etc) or get your water from Club Lanzarote, don't drink the water or even use it for cooking!

That's the advice that Club Lanzarote have just given out after detecting elevated levels of Boron in the water.

For a moment there I was worried and although I'm limiting my intake of tap water, I'm not that worried anymore. I just read up on it and we normally consume around 0.5mg from tap water anyway and in total we consume around 2mg from diet and water.

Still better to be safe than sorry, thanks for the warning I had no idea this had happened!

Club Lanzarote can't have been too worried, because they didn't make any attempt to tell the peole who live there, it was only a newspaper that picked up the story. No, I'm not worried either having Googled the subject of Boron in water.

Does this mean i cant drink wine either?? Just flicked through two articles on boron and it says that boron is present in both food and drink. I did start to get a bit confused half way through 2nd article. I think that everyone takes in a certain amount of boron everyday (if i read it right). :?: :?: :?:

As I posted earlier, I Googled it. You eat more boron than you drink. There is an arbitrary limit for water, based on a minute percentage of the quantity which might possibly affect a pregnant woman with other problems. If you worry aabout things like that, you'd never go outside in case you got struck by lightning!
