Can anyone give me some info around dongles? I am considering spending a couple of months each year in either PDC or PB and have discovered that having hardwired ADSL for a short period of time is probably a non-starter, so I'll be reliant upon a dongle. What kind of up/down load speeds can be acheived and whats the best network to go with?

Ok there is no simple answer to your question tbh. Movistar, orange, vodaphone and the one ikea promote are available but you really need to know what will consistently work where you'll be and I don't just mean the resort or road but the apartment or villa you'll need to use it in as mobile signals on this island can disappear in yards! If you can try and borrow someone else's dongle when here and check it'll work before buying.

I am in the process of moving possibly to lanzarote and have been looking into Dongles and phones etc as I dont particularly want to transfer my uk number (business needs) or cancel my tariff as its fairly new.

I'm with Vodafone and they offered me a Spanish sim as part of my Uk contract that is only activated and charged when the phone/sim is connected to the network. They also offered the same with mobile access. unfortunately this doesnt help me as my move will be permanent but it may help you.
