Looking at the guest book where we stay, El Golfo seems to get a lot of recommendations. We've been there two or three times and just can't seem to enjoy it. We always end up going mid morning so I'm wondering if it's too early? I do love fish so would like to try the restaurants, but they seem to be on the road rather than overlooking the sea - or are we missing something? Any encouragement appreciated!!

Mary,

It seems to be a lunchtime through to early evening place. When you drive into the built up bit, the road wiggles for a while, then straightens out. Most of the establishments on the straight bit there have a building on the shore side of the road, and a covered eating area on the sea side of the road. I'm told Azul Mar is the one to go for.

Thanks for that - we try to go to a new restaurant each time, so will give it a go!

Location: PB Lanzarote, Oslo/Norway or London/UK.
"El Bogavante" in El Golfo is by many locals rated as the best seafood restaurant on the island. Located at the left a few 100 yds into the village and with brilliant sea view. Try their lobster!!!

Also the restaurant at the very far end of the road is serving excellent seafood. And their "flan casera" is to die for....

Late afternoon perfect timing, and a beautiful place to be watching the sun set in the ocean these days...

Cheers....... :D
