Hi all
In playa blanca at the moment - lovely weather and we are having a ball. just a word of warning to anyone heading out. we went out for a meal tonight, willing to spend money and have a good time. tried this place called el mano at marina rubicon, but not very impressed. Service was very good if a little rushed, but it was quite busy to be fair. All our chicken portions tasted the same. I ordered chicken in white wine, which actually tasted like my hubbys curried chicken. About 5 chips each, no choice of jacket potato etc. And very very salty. Charged for the bread and dip things they put on the table (didn´t ask for them, thought they were just a taster and free) Don´t mind paying, don´t get me wrong, just bugs us that they add on this and that. As I said the service was good, but they already added tax, so didn´t leave tip. First time this hols and felt bad :( But it really was a poor meal. Incidentally now sitting in internet cafe opposite where the guy serving is an absolute joy. Wish we had had a burger here instead! :D

did you not complain? they will continue to serve up rubbish if people dont tell them it is! it's sad but true that a some restaurants are happy to rely on a 'one visit' tourist trade, they seem oblivious to the fact that people will share bad experiences on forum like these, then wonder why they eventually cease to trade? they must know they are serving poor quality food? or maybe they dont care?

I'm always interested to hear opinions on restaurants - eating out is our main mission on holiday so we always try to go back to our favourites and find some new ones. We've looked it this one a few times - havent tried it because it's one of the more expensive ones and we just havent got that 'feeling' about it. We have tried La Roja though which is close by (dark red building) which is also quite expensive but the service and food were excellent. I would also recommend the steak at Little Italy (near Lanis).

Sorry to read this review and you didn't enjoy your experience. I have been to El Mano several times and always enjoyed the food. Last November the steak was one of the best I have ever had.
Little Italy is good, will try their steak this year.

Well, back to sunny England now - and it actually is sunny! We didn't complain at El Mano - but I think they knew by our body language and pushing the food around our plates that we weren't too happy. Yes we should complain more - but when I am on holiday, I just think 'oh an easy life for two weeks'. And it actually bugs me to think I should have to complain. Surely these restaurants hire competent chefs that should know how to cook food - or at least in separate pans!? Overall, PB was rather quiet - the weather picked up after about 5th April and we really enjoyed ourselves. Best meal out was at lunchtime on very end of playa flamingo beach - 'el bahia'?? Superb lasagne my hubby said. Friendly staff and good service. Prices pretty reasonable for the front as well. Anyone heading out there in next few weeks - I am very jealous  Have fun!
