Hi, myself and music partner and pal Garry (The First Response) are coming to Lanzarote this April in search of work in the entertainment business.

We are an acoustic duo playing old school and modern rock, pop & dance hits! We like to create a fun atmosphere whilst playing top music! We are hoping to get work in bars, hotels etc!

Would anyone have any tips or advice for us before we arrive?

Yes, make sure you have enough capital to live on for several months if you can't get work soon. Don't burn your bridges in UK. Find the other Lanz forums by googling, and ask for advice on those.

This is good and bad:

Good because that's what most people on holidays want. Bad because lots of other acts already service this demand.

There's still work out there though - just finding it is the hard bit.

Have you got CDs to drop off into bars/hotels to let people hear you in action? If not, then maybe that's something you could do before you take off.

A website and business cards might also help.

It depends on quality.

If they're any good they will do well. To be honest there's not much to beat on the Canary Islands.

Quite a lot of bars etc., though, have got rid of acts due to costs. So it's going to be hard.
