Can anyone tell me what the rate is today? I got 1.2016 Euro per UK Pound£(no commision charged) a couple of weeks back over here but have some more £Sterling to change if the rate is about the same I will change it in Lanza if I need it. Thanks in advance.
We stayed at the El Trebol in 2007 and I am sure there wre hairdryers in the rooms can anyone confirm this?

If you read the various threads on this site where peole ask this very question you will find that there is only a small difference between what you get in UK and what you get here, so whatever you see there is what it is here, and since it changes every day, if someone told you today's rate it wouldn't help. If you bring large quantities of cash it might get stolen. Better to take cash from a hole in the wall as and when you need it.

I understand Nationwide are bring some charges in From November the 1st, £1 per transaction not sure what else, could be worth checking if I am right with your branch or on their website maybe? Quote: Please note: From 1 November 2010 we will introduce a commission charge and a cash withdrawal charge for transactions in currencies other than sterling. These will still be among the lowest in the market and will replace the existing 1% fee for transactions made outside the Visa Europe region. For full details please visit the FlexAccount changes section of our website.

Wrong DV - the following relates to nationwide credit cards.... Nationwide continues to offer "commission-free" foreign transactions. "Commission-free" means that we do not add any additional charges for exchanging currency which are designed to generate profit for the Society. We do, however, pass on any fee we incur from our card scheme providers for processing transactions in certain currencies (generally those outside of the European Economic Area and Turkey and Israel) other than sterling. The fee is currently 1.00% and it will be included in the sterling amount shown on your statement http://www.nationwide.co.uk/creditcard/ ... ctions.htmAnd this one for debit cards http://www.nationwide.co.uk/current_acc ... ctions.htmSo no fees chargeable in spain for using card nor for taking cash out. Of course there are other no commision cards - Post office, saga, Santander I think too. . DVJJ - I think it is just common sense not to walk around with large amounts of cash on you be it at home and especially in a foreign country. If you have the right plastic you will actually get a better deal.

Wrong foodie. From 1st november Nationwide will charge 2% per transaction + £1 for using an ATM. And of course Credit Cards will also incur a cash advance charge for use in an ATM, as it's always been.

I am aware of the Nationwide charge for our debit card. The key is what is the maximum Euro's we can draw/day.

I stopped doing this a few years ago because sometimes your card will be out of your sight for a moment but nearly all restaurants have wireless card machines now that they bring to your table.

Not sure what you need all that cash for Frank! Casino? Expensive drug habit?! Does this constitute an apology? Act in haste repent at leisure... Santander do a special card as do post office and so on but only worth getting into if you are a regular traveller, I am only lucky enough to travel outside the UK once a year (sometimes don't manage that) I am not good at keeping track of what I spend (especially when I am enjoying myself) hence I prefer to bring what cash I can afford and quite sensibly lock in the hotels safe facility. My comment regarding the Crime rate was an attempt at flippancy, I am not sure the Canarian tourist board would be impressed at persons saying don't bring cash to Lazarote it might get stolen lol doesn't give a very good impression of the Island does it? Anyway thanks to everyone, no-one still answered the original question whether relevant or not, I just wondered how the rate was against the rate in the UK but seems to be the general concensus that it is usually about the same as I am not changing thousands of pounds I am sure it wont bother me too much foodie Wrong! DV. dvjj if you please.

Cash can get stolen or lost anywhere in the world, it's nothing to do with Lanzarote, would you carry that amount of cash with you on holiday in the UK?
I certainly wouldn't. There's a lot more to currency exchange than just the best rate, using a card in the ATM is secure and convenient and is exactly what I'd do at home so can't see why I should do any different away from home.
But, each to their own.
