The Canarian Government has ordered all schools closed on Monday throughout the Canary Islands.

An extreme weather alert has been issued for the western Canary Islands (with a lesser Orange Alert for Lanzarote and Fuerteventura).
The western islands are expecting gusts of up to 170 km/h while gusts may reach up to 90 km/h in Lanzarote.

So far, no incidents on Lanzarote - though the worst of the weather is due this afternoon and evening.

The worst affected areas have been the north of Tenerife and La Palma with heavy rain, strong winds and fallen trees.

Getting very heavy rain and off, strong winds and thunder and lightening. Stopped here but no doubt it'll be back again!

Had a good storm lunchtime. In P.B. Looks like there may be more to come yet.

The storm has passed now leaving only minor damage behind (including to my house!).

A few trees and electrical poles were blown over and some roads were flooded.
The highest wind speed recorded was a gust of 111 kmph in Tinajo.

There are still substantial delays with inter-island flights.

Same here....

Don't know if I'd prefer the snow and ice - but bright sunshine in between or the rain, thunder and lightning...but a bit warmer.

Hobson's Choice I guess...

Hope you don't get anymore damage over there and the damage you ahve had is soon remedied. :) .
