Hi there everyone,

We have booked a stay in the Faro Park area for September this year..
As its a long time since I last visited the island I would appreciate it if anyone could let me know what facilities there are in this area..
Also if anyone could recommend a good reliable local taxi to use for transport from the airport as we are not hiring a car this time..
All information would be gratefully received..thanks

The only taxis you can use are the ones at the airport, outside arrivals.

40 - 50 euros to Faro park

That's 40 odd Euros each way, say 90 Euros. A large number of taxis queue outside the airport arrivals. A car would be little more for a week. If you use the search facility on this forum, you'll find lots of items about car hire. www.autoreisen.es are very good, cheap, reliable, and won't rip you off. They, and others, have offices in the baggage reclaim area, and you book by internet.

Faro park is a bus ride or a 4 euro each way taxi into town. Then, if you want to visit the rest of the island, you are stuck with the bus, or paid-for excursions. There are two smallish supermarkets and a good range of bars and restaurants in Faro Park, but a big Hiperdino and many many bars and restaurants in PB centre. The nearest usable beach to Faro Park is about 30 minutes walk for a family.

Don't get me wrong, I live in the Faro Park area and think it's great. It's just that I wouldn't holiday there without a car.

Hi,
Faro Park has a row of bars/restaurants and a shop.
There's a nice cafe for a bargain full English Breakfast, a Bakery (a favourite of mine  ) called Le Moka, a very friendly bar called The Snug, another Restaurant called Port of Call which i've been informed does a wonderful carvery on a Sunday. There's also an Italian that's recently opened and a couple of other establishments.
It's a steady 40 minute walk along the front, into Playa Blanca.
As for Airport Transfers, try this guy, he's very highly rated. http://www.t4you.eu/lanzarote_airport_transfers.html

I've always used Last Minute Travel (lastminute-transfer on web) On their minibuses, up to 3 people with luggage costs 20 euros (one way), and they drop you right outside the door of your villa/apartment/hotel.
If you can't find the website, just search under "last minute lanzarote".

Hi,
We have holidayed in Faro Park at least twice a year, for the past 4 years. We rarely venture into Playa Blanca itself anymore, as we just go on holiday to chill out in peace by the pool and enjoy the weather and catch up with friends. We've never hired a car, as we have never found it necessary to, the bus into Playa Blanca the bus stop is towards the end of the row of shops, is good value for money, and the taxi prices are reasonable too. The larger supermarket at Faro Park is adequate enough to feed us, 4 adults, for 10 days, although you may feel it's worthwhile taking a trip into Playa Blanca to do a 'big shop' at one of the supermarkets there especially if you want slightly more choice of meat or fish for the bbq. The small supermarket at Faro Park is open very late. Useful if you are arriving late and need milk and bread, or wine! etc.
As well as the the bars, cafe and restaurants at Faro Park that others have mentioned, you can take a walk along the promenade to La Mulata between the Rubicon Hotel and Natura Palace. There you will find a cocktail bar - Marea, a pub restaurant, a Greek restaurant and an Argentinian grill restaurant, all overlooking the sea. It's only about a 15 minute walk from Faro Park. Ask Jo at The Lighthouse Cafe for directions :)
As for airport transfers, either join the general taxi queue at the airport, cost to Faro Park approx €45 or book with Last Minute Transfer, they seem to have the best prices. http://www.lastminute-transfer.com/ If you want to see more of the island then I would recommend the Grand Tour.

Have a great holiday :D
