Hi,

There's always the chance of a rainy week in the winter, but you would be unlucky.
Daily reports of the weather conditions are posted in the following thread, so you can check out how the weather was for your dates over the last few years:

An overview of the climate can be found here:

Weegee, I was there this February past, for the Carnaval week, and it rained 4 out of 7. It was warm when sunny. I've heard it is really a lottery at that time, and this year was probably the worst out of the last ten or so, but I won't go again at that time. However, Carnaval was out of this world and the island was beautifully lush and green, which was a nice change.

Hi WeeGee

I have been going to Lanza almost every year in the Feb half-term for the last 6 years. As far as I can recall we've only had about 4 days of rain in those years but it can get really chilly, especially at night.

When the sun is shining it's lovely and warm - what I would call T-shirt weather - and, for me, it's one of the best times to visit...

PS - I say almost every year because I went somewhere else in the Feb half-term this year but I am booked to come back in Feb 2011...YAY!

Went at the same time Zengs, and agree with what you say. Apparently the rainy weather was the tip of what Madeira got,the heavy rain and floods.I am trying to book for Carnival week again next Feb. 8)

We went for the last week in February this year and there had been a lot of rain over the previous 2 weeks but we had great weather 23 degs - 25 degs and no rain at all. We have never seen the Island look so green, it was lovely, reminded me a bit of the Lake District in some respects.

PRETZ, Carnaval (I am almost certain) will be in March in 2011. Easter is later next year so Shrove Tuesday (Mardi Gras) is the 8th March so imagine Carnaval parades will be Sat' 12th. I cannot wait as it'll be the last time I go for a while as it's usually in freezing Feb'.

Hiya
Go to Section Everything Else
Click On Todays Weather - Live From Lanza
Go to Page 53

That should give you a rough idea as what the weather is like that time of year.
I give up thinking about the weather that time of year in Lanza, it is just hit and miss.
The World is messed up and so is the weather all over it :(

Focker, I can't believe I've been on this site all this time and didn't realise that luxuryvillas post was a daily weather update. I wondered why there was often a new post to that old string. DOH  Well, we live and learn.
Anyway thanks for pointing that out. Things are becoming clear('ish).
