We visited Playa Blanca in July last year and the festival was far too loud for our young children. We are looking to go to Playa Blanca in June this year and are terrified that there will be another festival - Does anyone know if there are any festivals planned for JUNE this year! Please help, it ruined our holiday last time!!!!! THANK YOU

Gilly

Terrified of a festival!! Ruined our holiday!! These are most unusual comments, apart from being a bit loud, what could possibly have happened to make you feel this way?

It lasted about 5 nights and was on a large outdoor stage with a full fun fair and went on sometimes until 2am. We could switch off from the music but there were horns going off all the time with the funfair. We just could not sleep. I am not a ba humbug or a party pooper but it was so loud! We ended up buying ear plugs and taking sleeping tablets - not what you plan on doing on holiday. Do you know if there is one planned for June?

This is a lift from the Lanzarote Information website; looks like you've already missed all the 'fun' for this year.

Playa Blanca Carnival Programme 2011

I liked the carnival announcement from the Ayuntamiento of Yaiza for Playa Blanca, once translated, they said something along the lines of……

* Unfortunately Cinderella said thank you for her invitation but she can’t make it due to personal circumstances, the gossips are saying that she’s booked a hotel suite for a romantic weekend with a certain prince.

* The wolf has an appointment with his beautician for a hair removal session and doesn’t know if he’ll make it on time or not.

* The three little pigs haven’t confirmed yes or no, they are a bit afraid, because for sure there is always a good excuse for a barbecue in Lanzarote!

However Peter Pan, Captain Hook, Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will all be there to celebrate Carnival in Playa Blanca on Saturday the 19th and Sunday 20th of March 2011.

If you haven’t already guessed this year’s carnival theme for Playa Blanca is children’s stories / fairytales.

The main parade will start on Saturday near Flamingo beach at 17:00 before making their way along Avenida de Canarias, Calle El Varadero and Avenida de Papagayo before arriving at the Plaza de Nuestra Señora del Carmen when the carnival party will start. Groups Sky Band and Lanzarote Swing will be entertaining the masqueraders.

On Sunday at 17:00 the children’s carnival will take place in the same plaza with the Little Mermaid show, dance classes and Peter Pan on skates.

Where were you staying in PB, and have you chosen a different part of town this time?

Gillian, the fair is there every July and is always very loud. We are so close that we can "feel" the noise through the floor - there no point going to bed until it finishes. You would be OK at the other ends of the resort at Faro Park or the marina.

If it's the fair that is down at the harbour in July then you must have been staying very close to it, we've stayed right across the road from it and it never bothered us. I don't remember it ever being on past midnight either to be honest.

I've never heard it from the Faro Park area, so it can't be that loud out here - on a quiet night I can hear jets flying high enough to leave vapour trails!

We were staying at Puerto Chico next to Calle Salida A fuertoventura so next to where the boat leaves for the glass bottom boat tour. We are planning on going the 13th till the 21st does anyone know if it will be there during that time at the harbour at that end of town?
