Hey guys,
Im sure you get loads of these so dont jump down my throat just yet. Myself and my gf(22 and 23) are heading to pdc on august 27th for 9 nights. we're spent days looking at accom but seem to be going around in circles here. We think we wanted to be based in the old town, or close enough to the old town, with easy access to the harbour and to the new town. All needs to be in close walking distance as no car will be hired.
We're probably gonna hire a private apartment from ownersdirect or somewhere, and our budjet is around 300 pounds, so just wondering what are good complex's and spot and where should we avoid!...Ps a nice pool is a must
Thanks again folks, hope i aint asking too much. Any help will be amazing.

It's difficult to know what "nice" means! I have friends who spent ages on ownersdirect and ended up booking an apartment based on the fact that there might be other families around there with small children to play with their little fella. I don't know of any complex that is definitely to be avoided. Maybe others can help there. I suppose there's an element of luck involved in booking something on the Internet. Thou in fairness, ye would be very unlucky to book something that looks good on ownersdirect and then was not so nice in the flesh. Good luck anyway

Hi guys, wherever you stay you will enjoy PdC regardless. FWIW the old and new towns are very close, in fact they almost seamlessly join together and distance is not really a problem. No taxi required, unless you are allergic to a short walk ! If it is beach you want then accom in new town is probably better as the Playa Grande is right on your doorstep. You can get plenty of accom in your price range. Nowadays We usually stay in the San Francisco Park ( www.sanfranciscopark.com) (mods no connection with the site or owners, just regular customers ) and find them very convenient and reasonable at €35 per apartment per night which we think is very good value. Just back after 9 days and already booked for October. We've stayed at quite a few places in PdC over the last 10 years and can't say there is any place we would not go back to. Enjoy the break !

We always used to stay at Montana Club which is off the strip in the area of the Casino,so nice and central and only 30 euro per night per apartment. In a really quiet area but only a five minute walk to the strip.

if you are looking for a base between the old and new town then i recommend the la florida apartments , they should also cover your budget.
the la florida has a supermarket (hiperdino) below it , a chemist 20 metres away , another smaller supermarket across the road so for supplies its very easy.
you would also be a 5 min walk into the old town by walking down road and turning right
you would be a 5 min walk to the biosfera shopping centre by walking down road and turning left.
you are a 5 min walk to the smaller playa chica beach by walking straight down the road from the la florida
to get to the strip its a 10 min pleasant walk with many shops and bars along the way , you walk the biorfera route then go downhill at the roundabout , this takes you to teh strip as you turn left at the bottom
the la florida has a very good pool bar with reasonable prices , nice pool , the apartments have great views of the sea , internet access and if needed tehy can provide car hire.
we are off there in late may so i think you can tell that we are excited as its my littles girls first holiday abroad
i think i should get commission for this report lol

Hi, try lastcheck.com, we have always found (as someone else has posted) the La Florida apartments very good in the old town. We are going there for a month in July as we have done before. Just done a quick check for you for the dates provided and it works out at about £25 per apartment (not per person!)
The pros of these apartments are: Nice pool, Large supermarket at front of complex selling all your drinks (nice cold beers and spirits on your doorstep) and food at better-than-tourist rates. 5 mins down the hill and you'll be at playa chica, a lovely little cove, great for snorkeling (or maybe a test scuba dive?) Fish ( and not small ones )literally take bread from your hands, 5 mins or so from Bisophere centre shopping, (hide the credit card from the other half) The old town boasts some of the best restaurants in PDC and some lovely evening views. 10-15 mins walk from main strip although we've always felt hassled at night there by over-eager bar touts and restaurant staff trying to get you in to their establishments.
We used to stay in apartments in the new town, but knowing Puerto Del Carmen as we do ( we lived there for a year a few years back) I personally would recommend the old town. Read a few reviews of the apartments on Trip Advisor or Holidaywatchdog, you'll find they rank pretty well.
Enjoy your stay.
