HI all
We are embarking on our first holiday as a couple for the first time in many years , reason been our daughter has turned 18 and no longer wants to be with the olds ....
Looking to visit Lanzarote in late Oct for a week and leaning towards PDC .We have done All inclusive for the last few years for obvious reasons and now we feel as we are having the first bit of us time for many years we would enjoy S/C or B and B this time round.
Our plan is to laze around the pool or on a beach daytime and on a night time wander out and have a bit of food and a few ales ( well prob quite a few )
Would appreciate advice on accommodation within PDC , which areas would suit us best etc
We are not looking for 5 star accommodation and and silver service restaurants and defiantly too old for nightclubs just good value ,clean and close to a good selection of bars and restaurants
Many thanks in advance
Jim

Hello Jim Try the Rocas Blancas just across the road from the beach and only yards away from good bars and restaurants. Staff are great rooms clean and comfortable. If you ask for room in block A or D you have a great view of the sea. We stay there all the time and love it. Cheers Peter

Hello Jim, Check out the website of the Montana Club in PDC. Small three star with large rooms, two swimming pools, five minute walk to the Casino area and only 35 euro per night. Real quiet area but very close to the strip.

I'd recommend the La Penita. But if I was you I would look about the internet, check Trip Advisor. There are loads of great apartments in Puerto Del Carmen and I think you need to be very unlucky to get a "bad" complex. Everyone has there own favourites. One mans Palace is another mans .......etc.
Good Luck & Enjoy

Thanks for the replies
How do the different areas of pdc compare,is the strip bouncing and packed with youngsters ? Are there plenty of bars etc in the old town to make a good night out?
Cheers

The strip is adorned with restaurants and bars, the very middle is where you'll come across Centro Atlantico which, after a certain time, is a pain in the arse with all the PR's trying to get you in. Just ignore them and walk on. But that is my only downside as everywhere else on each side and up the side streets of this dump is fabulous and hassle-free. The old town is really relaxed down at the harbour for restaurants and bars (I really like the small square of bars down there where Bourbon Street showbar is). But there are plenty on the hill down to the old town (I try to avoid the Irish ones as they are overpriced, but would certainly go in them otherwise). If you go back towards Pocillos and Matagorda bar areas, you'll get a really relaxed atmosphere. It can be really quiet sometimes and they can close earlier than you want but I like the odd night down that end and then jump in a cheap taxi to zip me back to the action. With regards to accomodation, I personally found the centre of PDC a bit too crowded (not bustling, but too many complexes to close together, if that makes any sense, ) and I now prefer the tranquility of Matagorda, not to forget the fantastic long walk during the day along the promenade into central PDC. It's not great for those less ambulant or those wanting to be near the 'action'. I have never stayed in the 'Old Town' as it is a bit 'hilly', however there are lots of nice looking places down by the harbour. In general, I've never had a bad rental in PDC. I started off in 2 star places which were basic but honestly great. Now I'll pay a little more just because I want an exclusively private rentals complex. Have a great hol and hope you get back to a house that hasn't held a week long rave

Great post Szorbino
Like the sound of the old town or new town towards the old town if that makes sense Is there much in the way of bars / restaurants in Matagorda ???sounds as though it may be a little isolated , am I wrong in thinking that? Hopefully booking flights on Monday coming then just the accom to sort out, without visiting a place you never know distances and layout so all the help has been very beneficial and much appreciated

Matagorda has no shortage of bars and restraunts. Just not as built up as Puerto Del Carmen.

Well jimbouk wrote: Great post Szorbino Is there much in the way of bars / restaurants in Matagorda ???sounds as though it may be a little isolated , am I wrong in thinking that? d Sure are lots of nice bars & restaurants in Matagorda and round towards Pocillos in my opinion (you really have to stress 'my opinion' on this forum or you get slated for coersion, lol). Nothing overly fabulous, but mainly all are really good, there are no bumping nightclubs in Matagorda. It is never really raucous round there and that is part of the attraction for me. I love to jump in and out of 'party zone' but stay in tranquility. Matagorda is the nearest end of PDC from the airport. You come out of the airport terminal and jump in a taxi and are there within 5 mins, stipped into swimgear & into pool in 10 mins (disclaimer: approx). I really should stop because I'm sounding soooo pro-Matagorda, it's like listening to an anti-fox hunting campaign by New Labour, haha. Seriously, first time visitors probably should rent/book in central PDC or 'Old Town', get to know the whole town/island and make their minds up. When you see apt's you are thinking of booking, well, ask us all where it is and what the area is like. Happy booking

Thanks again
Been looking at the Rocas Blancas Apartments which would seem to suit our needs From reviews i have read they are clean and and looking on google earth they seem to be in a central location within a stones throw of the beach. I would expect there to be bars and restaurants within the immediate area , our only concern is it may be too lively .
Any views or recommendation of similar accomadation much appreciated

Rocas Blancas is situated in at the start of the strip in central PDC. I've stayed just round the corner and the area is a great base, beach right across the road, plenty of shops and the start of the restaurants and bars. It doesn't get really lively until a bit further along so it should be peaceful enough.
