Hello, coming to PDC on 6th aug, what will the weather be like? I know we all like the sun and a little heat, but will it be more comfortable by the beach, or on sunloungers by the pool. Can someone tell me will it be uncomfortably hot, or nice? I'm bringing my grown up son who is not very well at the moment, but insists on seeing Lanzarote one more time. Hope someone can help me, i've never been. We're staying in "San Antonia hotel", if that helps.

In August we can have some very hot days. Normally temperatures are in the low 30's but you can have days in the high 30's or even 40's. Won't make a lot of difference on the beach or round the pool unless it sheltered then it can feel considerably hotter.

If you mean the San Antonio in Puerto del Carmen, you have the wide open beach of Los Pocillos a few minutes walk away. Fantastic beach and plenty of breeze to keep the temperature down. Beware, VERY high sun factor required, or you will be on sale at seafood restaurants as lobster within an hour!!!!

Thank you both for answering, it's very important that i have some idea of what to expect. I appreciate your advise. Any other one who can help, in any way, would also be appreciated.

Yes, keep in the breeze and out of the sun. Even if the sun is covered by cloud, please put a very high factor sun cream on, otherwise you WILL burn. Remember, Lanzarote is an offshore bit of the Sahara!

The breeze keeps it comfortable, so your sweat turns to salt, then burns in the sun. Be warned, it's a beautiful climate but very dangerous. I would say that the beach is safest as sunloungers are normally put in suntraps whereby the breeze cannot cool you down.

Hi My parents stayed at the San Antonio last August and yes it was hot hot hot!! However there are plenty of places you can find shade in the hotel gardens and around the pool. Have a wonderful time - so jealous! We came back 21st July; counting the days til we go back!!!!

Even on half board, go out around the hotel and try one or two of the many restaurants nearby. Put some money the way of the local Island economy.

Hello forum members, i'm just back from a fabulous break in Lanzarote with my son. It was in the San Antonia hotel, half board, i enjoyed and savoured every last second of my stay. Thanks to everyone for their help and advise regarding the heat, wind, sunshine. First day or two were a little overcast but beautifully warm with the most fantastic breeze i've ever had the pleasure of sunbathing in. Yes, i did use plenty of sun protection, as did my son, we both spent the days on the beach rather than around the pool, nicer breeze on the wonderful beach just outside the hotel. Food was 1st class, staff couldn't be nicer or more helpful, choices to eat were wonderful to behold, highly recommended. Went for lavely walks on the promenade, had coffes, etc, in local tavernas, lovely old harbour area, with a beautiful church where we went to a lovely mass on sunday evening, followed by a procession. It's a long time since we both felt so happy. Thank you Lanzarote, i hope someday we can come back, it is a dear wish. Thank you everyone again for your help and kindness.
