I’ve never stayed at Los Hibiscus so I can’t tell you about the apartments themselves but I’ve stayed many times at the complex next to it and so I think its in an excellent location. It’s up a short but steepish hill just 100 meters from the main strip where there’s a good choice of shops bars and restaurants as well as the main Puerto Del Carmen beach. The Old Town is a 10 min walk away. There’s a supermarket virtually on the doorstep and the pool and public areas looks excellent. There’s an on-site restaurant but it doesn’t seem very popular so might be worth giving it a miss (you’re not half board are you ?) – but maybe that’s a bit unfair as I say I haven’t been myself. There’s a huge choice of restaurants within 10 mins walk, too much to mention really and mostly its decent food and reasonably priced.
Don’t know about the on-site food and bar prices but I can’t see them being daft because there’s plenty of reasonable competition around locally. Expect to pay around €1.50- €2 for a soft drink and €2.50 - €3.50 for a pint of local larger (Tropical etc), that’s around what the local bars charge, though there are some cheaper if you look (e.g Spenders).
BTW I wouldn’t really bother hiring a kettle you can just heat water in a pan on the stove, we find a toaster useful though for breakfasts as saves a few quid going out for breakkie every day.
Just be careful with security, I’ve heard of a couple of incidents there (I think mostly on the ground floor apts), at least one where someone just walked along the apartment fronts and popped into one where the door was open and nicked a bag in broad-mid-afternoon daylight.
Cheers - Ole

Hiya s.c
Like Ole, I've never stayed at the Hibiscus complex, but walked past em many times on my way to the beach.
Everything Ole said is "bang on"; a couple of Spar supermarkets just across the road, a stonesthrow from the beach, bars, shops & restaurants etc.
If you've never been to PDC before, a couple of eateries I would recommend. There are, like Ole says, loads to choose from, but these were just two that I enjoyed on my last trip a few weeks ago.
1, La Braseria.
Walk down the hill outside of the apartments, turn left at the bottom. go past Ruta66 & Tropical (these are 2 large bars on The Strip) About 50 yards up the road ,past Ruta ,is La Braseria. Maybe not the cheapest place in town, but the food & service is great.
2, The Maritoni.
Again, go down the hill, but this time turn right. a five minute stroll and you will come to the little Maritoni. Don't be put off by the look of the place. The food is great and the price is MORE than reasonable. (book a table, it gets packed from around 6-9pm)
For a decent meal in general, expect to pay between 10-20 euro's.
One little word of advice. Don't go into any of the electrical/jewelery shops. Its all tat, and they will try to rip you off. Please don't let my last comment put you off Lanza. Its a brilliant place, I go 3 times a year. More if I could afford it !! ha ha ha..
Have a great holiday
Mick

Yes,

Good call, Maritoni is very good, no pretence, no fancy décor but good food and service. Whilst just about all other restaurants are virtually empty Maritoni is full all night and every night.
Just pop in an hour before you want to eat and ask to book a table, then pop a couple of doors along into Spannish Inn (or The Tavern) for a couple of liveners whilst you await your table.
