Booked this hotel for December as in the past it has had good reviews and is right near Dorada Beach. We usually stay the other end and use Flamingo Beach but didn't want to risk it because the building work has been so slow.

I've just read Trip Advisor and see that the reviews for this summer are terrible!

Anyone know what has happened? Has there been a change of management?

Cheers.

I found this on travelrepublic

John from Liverpool reviewed the Hesperia Playa Dorada Hotel
Check-in Date: 25/Feb/2010

Playa Dorada Hotel has recently changed hands and I have the impression that the new owners are in the process of improveing facilities all round. We have been going to this hotel for some ten years and it would appear that staff numbers have been reduced and maintenance work put on hold. This could be due in part to the recession. We would still return here and fully expect improvements to be made.
The area is superb, lovely pool area, promenade walks, near the town but not too near, plenty of restaurants along the way without the area being too noisy

Ahhhh that might explain why reviews pre spring 2010 were really good and since then have been really poor.
