Hi all,

This is my first post, and not sure that it is in the right place. Do you have an 'introduction' section?

I am Sue, have been looking at moving to US for 4 years now, and have eventually given up.

I am a highly qualified teacher nr Manchester UK and ideally would love to teach in the Canaries. Notice Canaries, not just Lanzarote, as have not made up our minds yet. Never been to Tenerife, but have loved Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote.

I have a hubby who has worked refurbishing fruit machines, pool tables, video games, juke boxes etc for over 20 years, and 2 sons age 21 in August, who will also be looking for work.

Not sure of areas. Dont want to live in the very touristy areas, I like the nice 'village' feel, but my sons will want something to do at their age. Not bothered about night clubs, in US were looking forward to watching american football, ice hockey etc.

Any ideas would be welcome.
If you want to ask anything else, please do.
Sue

hi ,,
giving up on a us move is probably a good thing, the economy at the moment is terrible and most my American friends are looking to move to Spain ,try Canada or New Zealand ,they're recruiting and the incentives are good ,,

if u are thinking of canaries ,there are English schools but I'd imagine that vacancies are rare and the wages are no where near what your used to or expecting ,mainland Spain might be a wiser move and there would definitely be more opportunities for your sons and husband ,,

happy emigrating :D

A good friend of mine left teaching to move over to Lanzarote and will be starting to teach again in one of the British school's here on the island from the 1st September? Not sure what the pay is like but she was very impressed by the standard and quality of teaching that she will be involved with. If you drop me a PM with your email address I'll pass it over to her to get in touch as she should be able to give you a true insight.
Phil
