Hi there,

My hubbby and 6 year old daughter have booked 2 weeks beginning of July and are staying at Parque Tropical Apartments. Have been breezing about the forum but haven't seen any reviews on the place. Could anyone advise?

We have been to Menorca the last two years but found it getting more and more expensive. Also not very much for our little girl's age group. Caters for more tiny folk! Are there any bars that are suitable in the evening for a drink but also child friendly. I'm starting to worry a bit because from what I've read PDC seems pretty hectic. Booked there on advice from a friend. Just a bit worried it might be a bit crazy for a family. Don't get me wrong... love a nice meal out and wee one loves a pretend boogie some where!!! Could anyone recommend somewhere to go?

Thanks so much. Really impressed by the forum. Very friendly and helpful folk.

Thanks again

Fiona

Hi Fiona

Have been there once with my partner, returning again this year. Stayed in the old town area and found it very family friendly. Plenty of lovely restaurants all child friendly and bars also. Sorry can't remember names but think Bodega's restaurant (not sure) was excellent. I'm sure you will get great advise from regulars on this forum.

Have a great holiday!

Hi,

Having visited Lanzarote and PDC in general for 17 years (having first visited when I was 18), I am amazed at how friendly and welcoming they are towards children.
We have a 4 year old girl who will be making her 7th visit to Lanzarote in 3 weeks time.
You will find that most bars and restaurants will welcome you. Some of the regular haunts that we tend to visit are, Puerto Bahia in the Old town harbour, not only is the food excellent but the service and view is second to none.

We do tend to stay in the Old Town now as it is less cramped and loud in the evenings although the odd visit to the "strip" is welcomed for a few beers. You will find that most of the places you visit will be happy to cater for what you need and not as wild as you think.

You will enjoy all that Lanzarote has to offers and if you need any more advice then let me know and I will try to help.

Have fun.

Hi Morgana - welcome to the forum.

I went to PDC at new year, and was just up the road from Parque Tropical, we went in here for a day and was so impressed we have booked for 18 days on 31 December.
Please see this review from TA
http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic- ... lands.html

If there's anything you need to know about about PDC (especially the bars and resteraunts), then log into the Puerto Del Carmen page on this forum and see my review from a few months back.

Its all about opinions of course, but Lanzarote beats Menorca hands down for me!

Thank you for your replies. Really looking forward to it! Can anyone tell me the price roughly of a pint of beer? That's usually what I use as a price check of places! Pretty sad! You couldn't get a pint in Menorca for under 5 Euro last year.

Thanks again guys.

Sorry, mean't to ask... is there any bars/restaurants that have play areas in them? Great to keep kiddies happy. We also love watching live music as our daughter loves to have a wee boogie. Do you know of anywhere that have this?

Can't think of anymore questions - for now!!!

Hi

If you head down towards the beach from your apartments and turn right, on the beach side of the road you will come to a bar called if I remember correctly El Mirador (it looks out over the beach) there is a kiddies playground just near the entrance, it was only put in late last year. The bar also has music in the evening, it is not the cheapest of bars but child friendly staff as most are on Lanzarote. They only serve food at lunchtime, however, MacDonalds is across the road if you use them and also a little way along (back towards your apatments) is a restaurant called Pinocchio's which is very good as reasonable prices. I hope you have a good time in Lanzarote.

What bars were you visiting   lol
Was in menorca last year and never paid more than 3 euros, cheapest was 2 euro. agree it is more expensive though especially a decent meal compared to lanza. we are back in menorca again this year so hope it hasnt increased in price too much.
As for lanza, prices ranged from 1.50 to 4.50 per pint last year, with the most being inbetween that. plenty of good deals around for food and drink if you shop about.
5 weeks till were back and i cant blooming wait!!!
have a good holiday

Jesus, 5 Euro? I'd be surprised if you found ANYWHERE in PDC that cost you 5 Euro a beer!
Even the Magners (that as we all know is notoriously expensive everywhere) can be bought for 3-4 Euro a pint bottle.

The dearest I paid for a beer was 3.50, and that was a restaurant (Spanish place near Goofy's) that was serving good value food, so it evened itself out.

2 Euro a pint is common in most bars, and the cheapest we found was 1.50 Euro, at Friends (just behind The Dubliner), and Hawaiian Bar (a few doors away from Golden Corner). Both also have Sky Sports if you like to sit watching the action whilst supping cheap priced booze!

Enjoy.

Welcome to the forum Fiona,
As you have read, PDC is a resort for all ages, the new town is a long strip over looking the sea, so in terms of having a little one with you I would suggest you have picked well as oppose to the more hilly old town.
Your apartments are up a hill but fairly central so you should have a great time.
Average price for a beer is arou8nd €2 ..call in to Spenders bar just down from your hotel, it's a great watering hole to sit , chill out and chat with people, John and his team will give you any advice you need too ...

Be aware there's always a slight breeze in Lanza, so even if you don't feel to hot. plenty of sun cream and water !

Plernty of good places to eat, PInnochios being a great shout the staff wil make a fuss of your little one..... You'll have a great time

Happy Holidays
Danny
