Blimey - have checked the weather underground website, and it seems that they are having a bit of a hot spell at the moment to do with the calima. It's getting up to 39 or 40c during the day.

Just wondered if anyone knew how long it lasts? We're headed off next week, so (king of) hope it holds out a bit longer (or will I regret saying that!).

It is very, very hot, but the calima is now clearing and the wind is back into Northerlies, though very light. Fine if your on holiday, near a pool or have airconditioning.......not so good when you're working! The forecast suggests a return to more normal (idyllic) summer weather from Saturday onwards.

Just got back yesterday....it was really hot...certainly in the 38-40 degree mark, but the carina was starting to clear....you'll still have cracking weather and to be honest, the breeze is welcome.

Ah, so you're back Ingers. I was thinking about you (enviously!) in your villa up the road from mine. How did it go? Any cockroaches or mozzies? By the way, what is the Calima or Carina or whatever? Not come across that before. Kath

Hi Kath

Only one Cockroach dared to try and break into the villa...only to be met with a monster can of napalm bug spray and a zippo lighter...toasty!!!

Mozzies also at a minimum...I got biten once, the wife about 6 times...no-one else touched.

The Carina as I believe it to be called (although could be wrong) is a the sand cloud that comes over from the Sahara...it looks weird...like a red mist hovering over the sea...
