just booked for my first visit to lanzarote and all i have heard since is how windy it is. I will be coming at the beginning of october so what would it be like, obviously you cant predict how bad it is but what are the winds usually like at that time of year. My husband is in a wheelchair, will it be strong enough to blow him out  Also any other interesting tips for a newbie. :D

It is usually windier here than in UK, but October is one of the quieter months. In practice ,it just means there is always a breeze, which often is a blessing.

In my experience it's mostly a warm breeze anyway. And you can usually find some angle on a beach where you are sheltered. On many days, even in October, you are quite glad of it and it does keep any flies on the hoof.

I think the important thing is breeze - it's not like the biting wind you get in skegness, which is as the sign says 'so bracing'!

I can understand your concerns but I really don't think you have anything to worry about.

Hi stocktonmackem,

During winter Lanzarote is less windy normally, and you will always find some nice beaches where there is no wind at all. Even in Costa Teguise, the resort with most wind, there are always some quiet areas, you can see the live webcam/weather/forecast : http://www.secretlanzarote.com/webcam.html

Good trip :)
